Great solution at a great price I'm very happy with this charger, it has definitely eased my home charging anxiety. Before this purchase it took about 26 hours to fully charge my Leaf. It takes about 8 hours now to put a full charge on the battery. My charging situation is probably a little different than a lot of homes, I'm able to run the 50 foot cord from my car and through my house to the utility closet where the washer and dryer sit. I'm lucky that the 220 outlet sits right above the dryer, so its easy to unplug the dryer and plug in the charger. So I had no extra expenses for adding level-2 charging for this awesome car. The only thing I can't do is dry clothes and charge my car at the same time, I just have to remember to put plastic on my car seat if I'm wearing wet clothes.

Great level II EV charger After reading discussion groups and Amazon reviews, I was delighted to find this charger. I bought a Kia Niro PHEV recently and was thrilled to discover that I had an unused 220V dryer outlet in my garage. I opted for the 40-foot charger so that I can route it up across my garage ceiling and down to where my vehicle sits. Since it is a 16Amp only, it take ~2 1/2 hours to charge up my 26 mile capacity battery, which is sufficient for my needs. I am very pleased with this item.

Great Charger! Everything worked well so far. The charger is 240V / 16A (3.2kW), which is faster than the backup charger I had received with my e-Golf, and of course not as fast as the 32A chargers (like this one, which are twice as fast, but twice as expensive as well. It came in a neatly packed box (can be seen in the pictures), and I would keep it, since there is a lot of cable, and the box seems to organize it well. The cable is in two pieces (again can be seen in the pictures), I'll touch that in a minute. The final connection is a NEMA 14-50 Plug, which was the one used in my workplace. I asked for the longer cable, since it allows charging when I cannot park directly next to the outlets. However there is a caveat, the longer cable should not be kept in a spool, but rather should have a random loop. Otherwise that essentially becomes a coil, heating up, and possibly causing a fire hazard. (This is general knowledge when you handle large currents over long cables). However I had issues with heating extension cables before (when I was using the 110V backup charger with a wrong extension cord). So make sure you use the correct length, and any slack is not tuned into a coil. Overall I was satisfied with the charger and for the given cable length and power level it seem like a good deal

Nice to not be on Level 1 any more I ordered the 30' 14-30P version so I could share my dryer outlet, since I wasn't yet to call an electrician out to add another circuit to my garage. The company seems to really care about you being happy, and love their approach to offing different lengths of cable by varying the pigtail length. On the J1772 side it is the standard length to the control box, and the on the 14-30 plug side they have a NEMA L6-30R & P inserted between the 14-30 and the control box, so however long they need to make, they can. I especially like this approach because I have a 14-30 splitter, one connected to my dryer, and one connected to the approx 5' 14-30P>L6-30R, and when I need to use the EVSE, I just connect the L6-30R & P together, and saves me from needing to go behind the dryer and always plugging in the heavier 14-30P. I've only had it a day, but love this approach, and so glad I can charge faster than my L1. I haven't found the J1772 connector to bind up or be hard to remove as other reviewers have mentioned, so not sure if this is a newer version, but it connects/disconnects with the same force as any commercial or my stock L1 charger does. This is a reputable brand, so I'm sure it will last, but have no doubt if I do end up having a problem that Primecom would try to resolve it.

Because I live in a townhouse without a garage or driveway, I needed a portable Level 2 charger. The car came with only a Level 1 charger. This has been perfect for charging my PHEV.

It is excellent! I love having this charger at home! It allows me to fully charge my car over night even if I have mostly depleted the battery during the day.
