“Fantastic, money well spent.
After I replacing all the gearchange linkage bushings and installing a Cobb short shifter in my '06 STI things were fine, for about 6 months! I then started to experiance the most awful stick wobble.
Long story, short, I took a deep breath and purchased this U-Joint. A good 2 hour fiddle and frustrating job, but the existing plastic sleeve was destroyed and had crumbled away leaving no guide in the existing U-joint (hence the wobbling stick). Afterwards it is now rock solid with only about +/- 10mm of side movement, in gear or out.
I believe that changing all the bushings moved more pressure to the U-joint "bushing" which just failed after 18 years (remember it is plastic and really just a guide). The moral of this story is change this bushing when upgrading your selector bushings or you will be back under the car again in about 6 months. Yes, it's $200 but budget for it as part of the whole gear change upgrade.
