Red Currant Jam is as rare as hens teeth in Australia. To be honest we weren't planning on making this jam as we didn't think we could find Australian grown Red Currants. Then the other day we stumbled onto a grower just outside of Hobart in Tasmania and well we had to act! Red currant Jam is tangy and delicious being both sweet and tart in flavour. They do have small seeds but are perfectly soft and non-bothersome. This is a truely gem-like jam and would be perfect with dessert style dishes as well as crumpets or sour dough toast.
