They work just fine, for me and the other pair of H-80's, BUT, when I connected them to a pair of Trackscan Intercom headsets, and tried to communicate with the person with the Trackscans, he could hear me, but I could not hear him. And, as we both had Scanners, I was hearing his Scanner, even though he had his scanner set to Private. He assured me he had new batteries in his Trackscan headset, but I could still not hear him, when he keyed to talk. I was told the H-80s were fully compatible with the Trackscans, but, appear not to be.

Great hearing protection with intercom for a reasonable price compared to permanent installed intercoms. We use these in our UTV allowing us to talk and hear each other over the engine noise. They are comfortable to wear for hours at a time with the cloth coverings installed. They also allow listening to music or monitoring a radio, scanner or two way while protecting your hearing. Great product.

The push to talk cables have locks on them so as not to come unplugged. Separate cables hook up the scanner. So far so good. Will use these at the July race in Atlanta.

Worked great at our first use race and significantly better than the rental radio units we have used in the past from RE.

2019 Polaris general 1000 4 cover fits, but Rugged Radio logo is upside down. The radio and intercom mounts they sell is for center install and only goes in one way. 696 on top and radio on the bottom. Hence the cover is actually upside down. Expensive and someone did not have any afterthought.

As an SCCA Pit Marshal, I wear my headset for 8-10 hours a day. Most teams come to the pits and wear them 1/2-3/4 of an hour. All day long, the original cuffs hurt your head, just above the ears, wearing glasses or sun glasses, even blade style bows. These actually seal better and displace that pressure evenly around the ear, eliminating that pressure point. My humble opinion, a worthy investment for comfort. I also use a similar style on my shooting muffs at work.

Came from the off road racing world, so was very familiar with Rugged and the quality stuff they build. Started my flight training a month or so ago and needed to get my first headset. My instructor had never even heard of Rugged, but I went with the RA-980 anyways based on my prior knowledge. It's such a killer headset. Crazy light, crystal clear audio and mic, and super comfortable as well. Buy with confidence! I'll probably be picking up a bunch of the cheaper ones for passengers as well!

They are not cheap but they do work really well. I have several and I don’t know how else you would mount a helmet speaker/mic kit to an open face helmet.
