I bought this radio in a kit, for my new Maverick-R SXS. At first glance, VERY nice radio. However, once I started to program it with 135+ channels I noticed a huge issue for me. You can't program all 135 channels at once, they have to be put into zones of 64 channels or less. You also can't scan on anything more than 31 channels at a time. No more turning the ch knob to go from channel 1 to 200. If in zone 1, you can go from ch1 to ch64. But to get to ch65, you have to go to the menu and select zone 2. Now you can turn the ch knob to ch65 through ch128.... and so on. If you enable A/B then you can add ch1-ch64 into A and ch65-128 into B for zone 1. Then for zone 2, ch129 - ch193 into A and ch194 - ch258 into B and so on. Essentially, it's a 4000 channel radio. But only by using zones. I'd much rather have a 200 or 300 channel radio that doesn't need to use zones and can scan over all the channels or to access a channel by simply turning the CH selector knob. I have a Yaesu FT8800R that uses banks. You can add every channel programmed into one bank, or seperate the channels as needed into banks and utilize the 6 bank buttons (1-6). For example, I have the Blue Angels in Bank 5. I hit the "5" button and I'm only seeing the Blue Angels freqs. If I again hit bank 1 button, I'm back to ALL my frequencies being listed. So convenient. I also use Vertex Std VX3200 radios and love them. But they too have been discontinued. They too, don't use zones and you can easily access ALL channels via the CH selector knob or can scan ALL channels/freqs. No limitations. I ask Rugged, to look at updating the firmware to allow a zone capable of ALL channels programmed with frequencies... rather than a limitation of 64 (or 128 if using A/B). For the M1, I also love that when using an intercom the radio's speaker will mute once you plug in a headset or helmet to the intercom. Once you unplug the headset/helmet the speaker will then again work as normal. Works great for when you get out of the vehicle/SXS/buggy and still need to communicate with others. Just need to make sure the mic is plugged in to do so.

We needed a compact radio capable of programming a lot of VHF frequencies that was IP rated in our Fire dept SXS. This radio fills that position. Note: the P1 & P2 buttons only cover the first 4 programmed channels in each zone you program. I was hoping to be able to dedicate those buttons to a specific channel anywhere in the overall frequency load. Overall, the radio is perfect for our SXS.

In addition to the great cutting edge electronics we all love, we no longer have to worry about our investment with the Waterproof M1. Built to take all of the elements including the one we add when washing our rides. Handsome, Long Range and Dependable.

We have been kicking around the idea of headsets for a while now found them on sale after the king of hammer event. Customer service was amazing. Talk to them multiple times before pulling the trigger on the product as well as after I bought it to confirm questions.
