“The chocolates are fine but there is no indication of how fresh they are. This is surprising, for a company that makes a big fuss about bringing fresh chocolate to the world.
When I buy coffee there is a roasting date. I don't see what would be so difficult about putting a date on the chocolates.
The Use By date on the chocolates is 20 Jan 2025 as pictured. I asked Russell and Atwell if they could tell me when they were manufactured and they said "four weeks earlier" which would be 23 Dec. That's today - and they arrived on the 14th.
So they lied - exaggerating the freshness by at least ten days, probably nearer two weeks.
It's a shame. I wanted a box of fresh chocolates for family christmas, but there was no indication of when to order to get them as fresh as possible for the family to enjoy. I will try to support local chocolatiers in future.

“I found these to be way too sugary and sweet. Expectations were high but these are not the kind of chocolates I like. Lacking in sophistication and flavour, they aren't as good as many off-the-shelf options. Very little flavour difference between each variety. All just sugar, sugar, sugar.”
“The best by far were the Festive Dirty Blond. Hopefully they'll stay as a regular item. All the chocolates were lovely, but I dropped a star for the fact that they're all dusted in cocoa, except the white chocolates and the ones covered in nuts. They're not bare truffles and they don't need it. It would make me think twice about ordering some of them again.”
“Bought the chocolate for my husband, who is a chocoholic. It's his first time having fresh chocolate and he doesn't want to go back to the standard on the shelf chocolate anymore. He especially loved the Seville orange chocolate because it is the first time that it really tasted like oranges. So, he's hoping the limited edition part is just temporary because he wants more. Also, shipping was fast.”
