What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? When my students would came into classroom and see ANZAC timetabled they would get quite excited. The really enjoyed researching and became very attached to their person and his/her story.
Wonderful resource to tea the students about WW1. So many ideas and learning experiences to choose from.

What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? Students were keen to discover information about 'their' soldier from the one primary source they selected. This task increased their awareness of the resourcefulness and limitations of primary sources.
An excellent resource to support the work the students had already completed on NZ's Involvement in World War One. The range of sources was impressive.

What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? They were so respectful. They felt very connected with the story and because we pray, even prayed for the soldiers and their family during prayer. We are using their own stories and the artefacts to create a collage with layers of meaning.
We have absolutely loved using this kit and our students have become very passionate about the Anzac's, NZ soldiers and all of our armed services. There have been many 'Oh wow' moments and the artefacts themselves are very high quality, which has developed engagement in itself. I would thoroughly recommend this kit and I'm stoked that I will be able to keep these artefacts for future years. We have had huge engagement from families as well, with medals, records and bayonets being shared as well as visits from ex service Grandparents. Some of our students who aren't overly engaged have shared SAS members and felt very proud. Thanks School Kit

What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? Highly interested. All found the items fascinating and they were passed around and closely studied. Very engaged in the learning and leading further research.
Fantastic! I gave the kit to a group of students who had expressed interest in the topic and opportunity. They were completely absorbed - discovering the objects, reading the background stories, and working their way through the kit. These students led the learning for the group, sharing the information with the whole class. Students were able to group according to items which took their interest and lots of independent research and question led inquiry resulted. It was the items in the kit which sparked the most discussion and questions but the supporting posters and information was well constructed and at an appropriate level. We went on to further research around the NZ nurses ond hospital ships - good SJ resource helped here. Also the new picture book about Le Quesnoy was a good resource for us. Kids brought in family medals, and many went to ANZAC day services this year who had never been before. Congratulations on constructing a great kit.

Amazing kit! Beautifully presented for the students. They loved all the artefacts and wanted to know if they were real! They inspired some beautiful writing from them as well. Thank you for putting it together so well.

My year 5 class loved learning about our NZ Heros. The kit is well organised and has enough bits to use as a whole class. Thanks for organising such a great tool than can be used more than once.
