What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? Students who had never seen or identified with ANZAC or WWI were engaged and interested in the stories they read about. The use of artefacts gave the students the opportunity to connect with the topic and motivation to find out more about the object.
My class did a written reflection on their chosen artefact or person. It was interesting and engaging as a reading/writing activity, as well as relating to our ceremony at school and giving students a window into the world war that many of their ancestors fought in.

Kids really enjoyed having individual projects to follow. They did get a bit confused at times about what to do next.

What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? Most students made connections through stories told in their own families about war. Others enjoyed the treasure hunt aspect of this kit.
Great kit! My children really enjoyed reading letters from soldiers. They also connected stories told throughout school from Anzac day and started to appreciate and emphasize with what our men and women have done for our country. Great conversations with more to come!

It is an amazing resource. A colleague ordered it last year. So this year our team also organised to get them and we are all using the resource for Inquiry. It is an amazing resource. The artifacts are treasure. It is thoughtful, innovative and such an important part of history.

What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? Huge engagement with most students. Some students researched at home and came to school with facts to share.
The students became very curious about the people and the World Wars. Lots of discussions were had between the students, and they started researching at home. As a bit of a history buff, I shared photos and stories of different places I have been around the world related to the World Wars. I think this personal touch enabled some students to understand that these people and places were REAL not just ";stories"; or movies.
