What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? Much more engaged within their own working groups rather than teacher directed i.e. because of the research element they class were doing their own work rather than the teacher providing the resources and providing them directly to the class. The class ac
Excellent resources Great posters The replica items were so interesting and great for hands on activities It helped personalise the learning by the class being able to follow one of the soldiers stories related to an item. Gave the scope of more indepth research at a higher thinking level rather than just a superficial coverage of anzac day. Because of the research element the class was much more engaged in the work. Interesting facts arose such as males enlisting lying about their age, their being a cap on the age they could enrol and about the monuments around many schools in New Zealand.

What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? All students were excited and engaged. They were constantly sharing findings with each other and myself and also their families through SEESAW. Our ANZAC Discovery culminated in our assembly being an ANZAC tribute (students choice).
I did this with my class last year but we missed out on the kit so I printed the kit out from the online resources. Having the actual kit was so much better as the children found it far more authentic and engaging. They loved researching the taonga and about the people behind the taonga. This in turn inspired them to find out about their own family members who had been to war. Such a brilliant kit.

What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? Students were engaged with this kit and were excited about researching a soldier who fought for New Zealand.
Students loved the artefacts and we engaged and excited about researching a soldier who had fought for New Zealand. Some of the website research ideas were quite high level for Year 6 students who are just beginning their journey as researchers (inquirers).

What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? Everyone could do some aspect of it and were keen to look at multiple people with varying results.
A great resource that worked well with my Year 9 class. It was different to what is normally done in class around ANZAC day and students wanted to know about their own family members that had served as a result. It made it real with great links and a good variety of people from different areas of the country.

What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? Students were engaged in the topic - they liked using the posters if they had appropriate facts for their inquiries and for some the posters gave them new ideas on an aspect they could possibly research.
I thought the resources in the box were really helpful. We used the string bag of artifacts to begin our inquiry and I also appreciated learning about new data bases that were included in the resources. The posters were also used as starters for the students personal inquiries.
