What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? The students were so engaged with the activities and were able to develop and strengthen their research and presentation skills in a unique way. Having the artifacts made it all very 'real' for them and this helped to keep them motivated and engaged.

“The kit was awesome! They each chose an item to look further into and I felt that this kit allowed individualised learning in that each student was able to go as deep as they wanted with this project. They each presented information to a group about the person they had researched with confidence as they knew so much about them.”

What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? The children were engaged because it was real, one student commented they could be related to a solider in the box!

“Our class enjoyed discovering the items in the box and guessing how they might be linked to soldiers. Several students used the search tools to help them find out more information about relatives as well as the solider related to their chosen item.”

What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? Absolute fascination at first from the research, disbelief that I could get something so cool for free too. Students made compelling pieces of drama filled with emotion, passion and accurate information

“I used this kit with my Year 13 drama class. We firstly used the kit as a research tool and then each student devised a piece of drama based off their solider. Pieces were of 15-20 minutes in length and truly captured the chosen solider. One very proud Drama teacher. Thank you”

What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? The students enjoyed the detective type nature of the inquiries. It was great for them to try something different and they seemed much more engaged in the subject than in previous years.

“Wow! This is my first time using a school kit and I loved it. The students were so engaged with the hands-on kits and the way the research was structured. It was really good for me to see the depth of research needed to really get some details as well as the different ways that information can be presented. My year 7 &; 8 students enjoyed it a lot because it was also a different way of approaching a subject they have covered before.”

What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? The children were engaged from the start as we shared the posters and reflected on these through a 'bus stop' type activity. We loved looking through the artefacts and were very impressed with the replicas. The information on the soldiers was more in dept

What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? Loved being able to interact with the 'artifacts' and to apply their knowledge and understanding to the importance and significance of these. The students particularly enjoyed the diary writing and there were some profound pieces that came out of this.

“Loved this kit. We have had some stunning poetry and writing produced as well as artwork. 100% engagement from the class and the kit allowed the teacher to adapt the contents to the level and needs of the students being taught. Another wonderful teaching resource. Thank you School Kit!”
