What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? The students love this kit. The information is easy to follow. All the levels within my class have been able to follow this.
This is an awesome kit, with everything you could need. We have tried to research people from their families or our community, as well as the soldiers provided.

What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? I noticed how excited they were to piece together 'bits of the puzzle' and to find out if their initial predictions were correct. It was highly engaging! Some children were able to really connect the dots and gain a greater understanding of the story behi
The time and effort that has gone into creating this amazing resource is just incredible! Each and every story was so touching and heart wrenching, I shed more than a few tears in my planning as I became engrossed in the lives of these brave NZers. I really couldn't have asked for any more or think of anything that could have improved it. Well done on creating such a wonderful resource and making us feel truly connected to the soliders of WW1. Such fantastic learning!

What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? The children were fully engaged. They hung onto every word and could imagine and put themselves in the shoes of the fallen soldier or family members receiving the news. They all wanted to see it and scrambled to read it. It would have been better to have
The kit was brilliant. The kit was in and around the war time so was timely with Anzac Day study. The material was very visual and the children really thought that it was amazing. Got them stimulated with writing. My children found it easy to put themselves in the position of a soldier and produce really well thought through pieces of writing and artwork too.

What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? The students were extremely engaged in the learning from this kit as they had tangible items they could hold and see.
I used this kit with my Year 3/4 class and although it was designed for senior primary it was an extremely useful resource for them. We used it during our ANZAC studies and talked about the items.

What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? The students loved the items and were intrigued. Their sense of curiosity grew as I spread the items out and pointed out the uniqueness of each one. They felt a connection with their item and had a sense of importance while researching their soldier.
The minute the items were revealed the students were hooked. The excitement levels were high and the investigative pathway they took to solve the mystery behind their items was highly engaging. We ended the term with a special Anzac ceremony/assembly led by our syndicate, a WW1 day in retrospect and the laying of a wreath at our local dawn service.

What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? They were fascinated. I think it was the combination of having a tangible object to start their research from, and having a website that allowed an easy point of entry into their research.
My students really enjoyed using this kit. They loved having a tangible item to use as the basis of their research. It was great having so much information available online, and with easy links and prompts to more help them start more complex research. I shared my kit out between our three senior classes (Yrs 4-8) which worked out as one item per pair of students, so we all benefited from the kit. Thank you! We did enjoy it. A couple of gems: - one group’s research into telegrams lead my whole class into a deeper understanding of how difficult communication was in those days and exactly why receiving a telegram during the war was generally assumed to be bad news. - another group had the two buttons and struggled initially to work out why they would have been so meaningful when the person wearing them wasn’t even a part of the war - they didn’t actually GO to war. In explaining why someone would be affected by the war when they had siblings or relatives fighting, I commented how it was similar to the Christchurch mosque shootings - it wasn’t just the people AT the mosque who were affected - their friends and relatives were too. This explanation was perfect for this child as his own grandmother had been at one the mosques during the shootings - Now he got it!! Cool kit. Great discussions. The posters, the items and the research really brought the war into focus for my class in a way that I’ve never managed before. Thank you!!
