What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? Huge engagement and interest. The kit sparks such amazing discussion with each item being a source of wonder. I think this kit is stunning.

“My students are super engaged with this kit. They are doing a variety of writing including a factual information report, biography, timeline, narrative day in the life of their soldier and diary entries. They have used a variety of books, websites and interviewing relatives to find information and are going to present their findings to classmates in a couple of weeks using slideshows as well as sharing their writing with their families via Seesaw.”

What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? The students loved reading the personal letters and the soldiers little bag was also a great hit with the students.

What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? Children loved finding out about 'real' soldiers. Finding out what happened to them and where they came from. We linked it to picture books especially with the violin string for them to relate to more.

“Loved using this box again. Great to have items the children could see and touch in order to relate too.”

What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? Incredible- as above, the learners needed no enticing as the authenticity of the project did it. They were engaged because it was real. No templates to fill in or worksheets to complete... just open ended trails to explore.

“This is an authentic and adaptable kit . It enables the teacher to support or let the learners explore on their own, gaining many research skills. The learners were in awe of the 'realness' of their research. They were genuinely excited when they made connections and could link information. I felt it was an invaluable learning opportunity that empowered the learners to transfer these skills and let their curiosity lead them. Tino pai to mahi SchoolKit!”

What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? This kit is the perfect blend of old artifacts and new technology. The website was a real hit with the students. They loved reading about the history surrounding the artifacts. Actually being able to handle the artifacts provided a tangible link for them

“This is our second year using this resource and it gets better and better. We love the website provided, it is packed full of information. The resources in the kit are amazing too, the students really loved handling the artifacts and they were really very realistic. We spent about a week on this project and it was very engaging for all students.”
