What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? A perfect example is a child who often gets very little written was able to write a letter based on facts about WW1. He also surprised his group because he was prompted to talk quite knowledgeably when searching about his soldier item. The engagement was
The resource box was incredibly powerful. The resources are exactly what we are lacking in Primary School - so authentic and unique. At first I was concerned about the sophistication of research for Year 5/6 but wow - in groups the students rose to the challenge, and were guided by the information I could provide about Archway, Cenotaph etc. The posters gave us excellent data on which to base our learning. We ended the unit with a summative task where students wrote a letter from a fictional soldier home and they had some wonderful ideas thanks to your resource. The students presented slide shows about the three challenges and their information about their soldier and they carefully crafted sentences based on the information they found.

What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? They were engrossed with what the soldiers ate and how they lived through the war. They came to realise that these young men that were sent away could be them in a few years.
My students loved it! We haven’t got to spend too much time on this box as school comments had to take priority and we didn’t fully get to experience what the kit had to offer! I will be recycling this kit next year early term one to have the full impact for Anzac Day!

What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? Student's were quickly engaged, they wanted to share what they had learned with their peers and also see if their were similar stories to the ones they were finding out about within their own families.
Our students didn't quite know what to expect when we opened the box together. They couldn't wait to get their hands on the artifacts and find out more about the person it was from.

What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? My group of Y4/5 really got involved with researching their item, especially when they realised that it related back to actual people. They enjoyed sharing what they found about their person with their peers. We even had a dad who was in Afghanistan come
What an amazing kit! I loved all the artefacts and posters to go with it to help stimulate the kids and my imagination. I also loved the facebook school kit group for extra ideas and pictures of what other teachers had done with their class. Can't believe I can keep all these resources to use with my students year after year.

What did you notice about student engagement in the learning with the Walking with an ANZAC kit? The class was highly engaged with the school kit. They all created haiku poems and shared what they learned and created with the school at assembly.
Another amazing school kit. The resources, hooked the class. They learned so much and asked a lot of questions which was great. The class checked out the online cenotaph records and from that they started looking up whanau who served in the wars. They talked to whanau at home and created mini inquiries on their loved ones. Gone but not forgotten. Thank you for putting this kit together. I will be using for years to come. The ways the kit could be used is great.
