“This was a fantastic project and the kids in my class loved doing it. They spoke to a variety of women and enjoyed listening to their stories. Discussion was sparked and links made between themselves and women of the past here in Aotearoa.”
“This was a great kit, everything fit perfectly and created inquiring minds. My students enjoyed being able to have authentic looking resources that they could touch and hold. The things like the plate, sash and invitation created lots of discussion. Thank you school kit.”
“My students really enjoyed engaging in their learning with this kit. They enjoyed how it was hands on and allowed them to research and delve deeper into the topic of women's suffrage.”
“Thank you School Kit for requesting some feedback on this kit! This is actually the second time I have submitted my feedback, so I am unsure where my first answers were sent.
We really enjoyed starting off our school year looking at New Zealand through the perspective of the women who helped shape Aotearoa. My students made some great connections from what they are seeing within our school and society to some of the struggles and successes of the women in the past.”
“I don't think this was the fault of the kit, but possibly the timing in which I used it. I had hoped that it would provide a tangible source of inspiration for my Year 10 class at the conclusion of the year, unfortunately it actually fell quite flat. Another colleague has used the same resource this year, younger group, different subject, and had great success. I am currently trying it again, with more success.”
“This has been such an engaging unit. My students began by drawing their version of a “marathon runner”, with the majority of them drawing males. This sparked a unit which connected every aspect of school - math, literacy, art etc. - and ended with us connecting with the first official female marathon runner, Kathrine Switzer.
A special kit!”
“This kit is super engaging and has had my students thinking on a whole new level. We are still using the kit, as school can be a very busy place sometimes and we've gotten a bit behind! Loving it though.”
