“The group I used this kit with really enjoyed taking a look at New Zealand history and having the chance to hear from different perspectives in our school. So many great bits and pieces included in the kit that we will encorporate all year.”
“A fantastic unit. The kids loved working through the activities and especially loved the part where they got to interview their family members and the school community.”
“The information was immense and quite overwhelming for the students. We had to bring it to a focus that they could, within the timeframe they had, cope with. While still extremely valuable, we only touched the surface of everything that was available.”
“A very engaging kit that has stimulated lots of conversations about equality and fairness. Students have been exploring their family history, as well as women in history. A great opportunity to learn about New Zealand's place in the world, especially around women's rights.”
“We have had a few interruptions but kids were keen to research based on their interests. One boy who can be quite challenging to keep focused enjoyed finding a NZ women who unearthed fossels.”
“Great online resources and clear directive as always! With camp last week and last Friday's event, things have been a little hazy this week here in Chch. With also being in mid-rebuild and shifting classes at the end of this term, we have decided to take a slightly different approach. Students are researching/interviewing in prep for an oral presentation that they will present in Week 9 and 10 of term. They will present a mini oral exhibition of sorts related to 2 different woman of choice - 1 they do not know personally and 1 they know personally.”
“My students, although younger than targeted for this kit, have maintained engagement and interest for a number of weeks now. They have thoroughly enjoyed interviewing women of importance to them, and examining their own and others' gender bias.”
