How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? Led to great discussions about how everyday actions can be viewed from different perspectives. Students learned the importance of acknowledging that their view of a situation is only one view.
How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? Great way for the students to think about how/why things are recorded they way that they are/were. Great timing with living through the historical event of Covid-19 and how our perspective in NZ is very different to other countries around the world.
A great way to introduce some of the interactions and miscommunications around history, especially between Māori and Pakeha. Interesting way for students to look at perspective and it's connection to history.

How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? There was just so much talking throughout. The students really engaged with the activities and materials. We swapped around the cards a lot so they got to explain others views in their own words too

Loved this kit! Lots of excitement and interesting conversations stirred up in the class. As usual, the contents were fabulously prepared and have given me a lot of ideas to make future teaching fun. Thanks so much.

How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? I gave the cards out randomly so kids felt affiliated with their person. Then when we came to discuss the event they started to see other points of view and started to question their own point of view.
How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? It has given me ways to make it more real for the students and make them understand history on a personal level.
This kit was amazing. We had already looked at Nelson history, and the different experiences giving different perceptions, so it complemented what we had been doing. It really made the kids think beyond the history to the actual people and made it come to life for them.

How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? Were able to build on the kit by tying in other resources to which helped them examine whose perspective which is coming through.
How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? It was timely as we had read a book about it from one person's perspective, so the kids had more background information on it. Really does back up the thought that whoever records the history does so from their point of view.
A well thought out kit that really challenges perspectives. Has multiple resources to support the learning. Well illustrated that appeals to children. Really helped develop technical vocabulary with the kids as there were things in the kit that they had never come across before.

How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? It provided them with another tool for viewing more than one perspective, and showed how each point of view may have come from not necessarily seeing the whole ";big picture"; and therefore an opinion is formed based on less than full understanding of the
How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? It hasn't - I love teaching NZ history and looking at it from beyond the surface. This is just another way of engaging students in our history and beginning to build understanding of how we each shape our points of view based on our own experiences, cultu
Fitted in beautifully with our social sciences unit based on viewing a variety of perspectives and being able to make an opinion based on multiple points of view. Students were able to articulate how different people, with differing experience, viewpoints and backgrounds, could see something in a completely different way.

How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? They didn't really get into it enough to have adequate discussion created.
How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? Don't know if this was a good one for teaching the kids NZ history in a relevant way for them.
Couldn't really see the point in this one. The kids also struggled to get into it. In order to order the cards we had to read them all out which was also very laboursome for the class.
