How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? It definitely helped to harvest respect for different opinions and to actively take a stance to see something from another person's point of view; not only for this time in history, but for everyday problems that arise in a school social setting.
How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? Personally, very enlightening. I definitely did not have an understanding of the maori perspective of Europeans arriving in NZ. I am a foreigner myself. I have only been here for 2 years. The information I learned was invaluable. Thank you!
The kit is quite a lot to absorb and required me, the teacher, to do a lot of background reading. Although, it was very interesting, I found it difficult to fit this kit into my plan. The school term has been very busy and I felt that much catch up teaching and learning had to be done. I then had to change my term plan in anticipation of us going into another lockdown. I had to have learning tasks planned that could easily be done remotely. So, unfortunately, I only used parts of this kit. I the kit is better suited to primary students than to intermediate students. I plan to re-use this resource next year around Waitangi Day.

How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? It has not focused on one perspective but many centered around the same event. I intend on using this kit next year with a new set of students.
We loved the As I Saw it resource kit as it allowed students to learn about NZ history through it. The follow on we took from the As I saw it resource were the school journal stories One about Tupaia, Captain James Cook and the Google Earth Story showing Cooks Voyage. This resource provoked alot of discussions and questions why things happened the way they did. Students also wrote character perspectives.

A fantastic school kit to broaden student's thinking around understanding the history behind tuia 250 and point of view. My Year 5/6 class enjoyed this school kit as they had never learnt beyond the story of James Cook. They loved the freedom to explore the range of characters. It was a meaningful and authentic learning experience for us all. Thank you so much for putting in the mahi and providing these school kids for us!

How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? i found the kit very hard to use. not enough detail for me to teach to it and above the children i teach to get them to do full on research.
i am afraid the school kit this year did not go to plan. too many interruptions, and i ciuldnt give the time to it that it needed.

How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? We did a very cool activity to get them to thing about multiple perspectives. We placed teddy bear in the center of the room and they had to draw it from where they were sitting, including shoulders in front of them. Then we made them move to a different

Our class really enjoyed this kit, it was very relevant to what we were studying and the students really began to understand the way different people might look at a situation completely differently depending on their world view. They also enjoyed creating a museum display in the room and writing up the information on the cards. One of the best kits I have done so far.
