How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? It was the perfect way to introduce the idea of multiple viewpoints, without seeming biased one way or another. I would like to use this concept in future, as it really opens the mind!
This was an awesome unit - the students loved the story and the mysterious aspects of having sixteen different perspectives on one day. It took them a while to get their heads around it (as did I!) but once we'd unpacked it everyone was really engaged. The objects were a fantastic hook.

How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? Exploring the story cards made students aware that many perspectives of one event occur in history. People view different events in different ways and this can impact how events are viewed in the present and future.

My students loved this resource - they enjoyed exploring the events from a variety of different perspectives. It linked well to a range of different curriculum areas and the students completed some excellent writing based on the perspective cards. They also enjoyed the challenge of creating a museum display and were proud of the results.

How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? It helped a lot. As mentioned above, students could link in their own life experiences. Some students have very little knowledge about NZ history, so content wise this was also helpful.

How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? While we always teach NZ history at the beginning of the year this unit gave me the opportunity to reflect on this and think about how to teach this to my class more effectively.
