“This has been our favourite kit so far. Students were engaged and loved the museum exhibition challenge. Did find some of the instructions a little hard to follow on the teacher plan but just made it up as we went along.”

How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? Having the resources with the different perspective allowed the children to relate these view into experiences they have had. It meant the children really learnt about perspectives and that they need to have more understanding of others and their ideas.

How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? It allowed the children to get a better understanding of others perspectives and how to use these in everyday life.

How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? Students found it fascinating to explore our history beyond the Treaty of Waitangi and viewing events from different perspectives provided some rich discussion in class. Has made me realise I need to be more proactive with this.

“This was a fascinating kit . It was really good for students to have to see the perspective of person and how the events affected them or not. Matching up who was where and placing it on the map was like solving a mystery. Students had no idea about Tuia 250 until we looked at the kit and researched how people had come to NZ”

How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? The kit has impacted many areas of my class' interactions with each other and those in our school community. They have become little detectives when things happen in the playground to ensure that all participants are given a voice and can get their versio

How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? It has been an interesting way to teach history.. as there is no set 'this is what they need to know' but more that the students journey of learning and understanding is very individual. The timeline was very tricky to do. The 'Guess who' game was a hit!

How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? Having a Local content was great to engage the students. To build their knowledge of their surrounding area.

How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? Since this Kit I have completed some PLD on Local Curriculum and it is definitely a great way to teach local history.

“Being able to use Local History (Local Curriculum) to engage the students into learning history was a beginning for both the students and myself. I have done some PLD on Local Curriculum and this Kit was a great way to begin my journey.”
