How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? It made doing so a lot easier as I didn't grow up in NZ so never learned the history. Being able to hold tangible resources made lessons a lot more exciting for me and the children. Other kits like this, possible around Waitangi for example would support
The kit has changed my children's view on learning history! It has helped significantly to engage them in the learning taking place and make the whole experience more real to them - and me. It provided many opportunities for activities and we would have loved to spend even more time using it. Many parents have been dragged into the classroom by their children to be shown the wonderful, detailed resources.

#Tuia250 connects perfectly with our concept this term, which is Taonga - what do we value? We have set up a museum style display explaining why the artifact is of value to the original owners.

Dipton School Senior Room enjoying playing Guess who, we learnt the value of asking specific questions. This kit has been brilliant. Thank you.

Loving the As I Saw It kit! My class are so invested in the story and it’s interesting hearing the discussions. Not to mention when the group reading about Otiriunui realised which group had John Gore! They accused the group of murder! Now we have created a timeline and word bank I’m looking forward to us starting to explore the items

Our students got so in to learning about Tuia250, we spent the whole term on it. We started with the 'Old History, New History' kit, which although challenging content for our Year 7 and 8s, they got stuck in and did some deep learning. That then led in to the 'As I Saw It' kit, and they dove right in to this kit too! It was great that they had some prior knowledge by that point and were familiar with the people being mentioned. Tupaia was a class favourite, and they loved this learning. The chocolate stealing incident we kicked the 'As I Saw It' kit off with is still being mentioned! We also started our 'Walk the Length of NZ' kit (I am a Schoolkit addict/advocate ) but had to put our 'Not Part of Our World' on hold until Term 4. Can't wait to see kits on offer for 2020...(should also mention we have the SVA kit for Term 4 as well!)

Thanks School Kit for the As I Saw It kit. It was very relevent to us as the incident in the kit happened just up the road from us. My class worked really hard to research and create amazing museum pieces. I am so proud of the children's efforts. We learnt alot about our own country and its history.

Our mini exhibition for Te Tuia included our recounts from the point of view of the objects and some empty speech bubbles to show how some stories are not heard. Pics to come We are looking forward to beginning next term with Not in My World. Schoolkit team ...you are legends!!

Learners from Tirimoana Room18/19 researching and investigating the As I Saw It kit. Lots of discussion and thought provoking questions around perception and how different people can view an event. Thanks School Kit for the awesome resource.
