I am so sorry. I have not been able to present this kit to our class. I am a first year teacher and have found it near impossible to add this kit to our everyday learning. However, I do intend to teach/use this excellent resource. Just not right this minute. Huge apologies. I know this resource could of possibly been given to someone else to teach.

How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? Students learnt about the power of perception both negative and positive. The kit opened up in depth discussions about how we view the world and events.
How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? Its very important will be teaching it every year
I found the theme to be interesting and powerful. The artifacts and games e.g. guess who were great. I found the teacher notes hard to follow and struggle slightly to expand the learning. I found photos from other schools useful for ideas

How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? Staging the setup about the missing item was a great introduction to different perspectives. I think the students are more aware that others may have different perspectives to themselves.
How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? Certainly learnt there is more to the story and its great to learn all the different perspectives on our history.
Some wonderful learning in this kit. We found it a bit tricky to understand but the kids loved the exhibition. The envelope was exciting to open and red children enjoyed writing about their objects.

How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? I always knew that our story needed to be told in the classroom - and not just one story but all the story and that there are always going to be different points of view. This has inspired me to find more stories about New Zealand and to talk about them a
This kit was amazing. We are from the Coromandel and Wharekaho is our Marae so it was all about our place in the world. We all were given a character and we learnt what happened on that day 250 years ago through them. We wrote postcards from our characters to their families telling them what happened on that day, we created a 3D Endeavour showing all the different rooms that were on the Endeavour, we researched our objects and wrote about the history and why it was important on that day - we then held an exhibition and invited the rest of the school to come and listen to us speak about our object and character. We also created watercolour paintings of that day and we entered an art competition as part of TUIA250 and won first prize. We were involved in the TUIA250 and were part of the iwi at the marae when we welcomed the Flotilla of ships into Wharekaho and it was like the story had come to life right in front of our eyes! We got to speak to my brother who had got a passage on the Waka as part of the Flotilla around the East Cape - we really got to find out what it was like to sail on a real waka around New Zealand. Thank you so much the kids absolutely loved everything about this kit - keep up the great work!

How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? I learnt a lot from teaching this kit. It was very interesting to see Cook's encounters with Maori from multiple perspectives. As always it has highlighted the importance of considering all points of view when trying to determine the validity of any histo
Room 10 really enjoyed using this kit. As we unpacked the stories from multiple viewpoints we were able to co-construct the narrative as a class. The events were topical and sent students off in a range of different inquiry avenues such as finding out more about the Transit of Mercury, the HMS Endeavor, and the history of Tupaia. The 'guess who' style games were enjoyed by all the students. We loved un-boxing the items and looking into their backgrounds. This all culminated in creating our very own museum exhibition in class. Thanks for an awesome kit!
