How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? Yes, very much.
How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? It was easier to learn from and with other resources and teacher input, it helped to create a non bias perspective and students could make their own assumptions and decisions on how they felt
As I have previously, I went through the school kit and got my head round it before attempting to make a more clear lesson plan. Another teacher and I created a google site and used the ideas to make more refined and personalised lessons for this kit. This has been one of my favourite and the students alike. The games, tangible items and the way they help shift student and teacher perspective was quiet impressive. More like this would be greatly appreciated

How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? The character cards really helped studnets to take their role seriously and put themselves in the characters shoes. Through a drama re-enactment we did, students were able to experience the emotions their character felt and tensions between them. This hel
How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? It has made me realise that teaching NZ history can be very engaging and interesting with the right resources and materials. By simplifying the story down and focusing on characters and perspectives it really helped engage the students through ";story tel
The students were really engaged and loved this topic. They learnt a lot about Tuia 250 including NZ history and the different perspectives from the Maori and Europeans. The character cards were very engaging and students did further research and investigation to find out more information. My only issue with this kit is that it was very time consuming and in terms of the ammount of writing students ended up with it wasn't much. This kit would be better suited to an inquiry/drama unit instead - not writing. I have a lot of target writers in my class and when I look at my students writing I can't say they would have progressed much in technical terms by looking at skills of writing such as paragraphing, editing etc, there just wasn't any allocated to teach that. However in terms of generating ideas this kit was great for that, students found it easy to think of what to write and were motivated by the interesting topic. I adapted the kit to ensured that each lesson they produced some sort of writing or learnt/practised a new writing skill to ensure all their literacy needs were being met.

How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? It's not easy to teach children about different perspectives. This resource was very applicable and hands on, children could understand the meaning of perspectives much easier.
How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? Not to only learn from selected resources which can bias my view, but to look at it from different perspectives.
Great resource to widen the view on how to see an event from different perspectives. Great visuals and hands on materials that children can learn with. I combined it with the book ";The adventures of Tupaia"; which enhanced the bigger picture and storyline.

How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? My students took ownership of the people they were assigned to share the perspective of to the class. It gave them a feeling of solidarity with that person and allowed them to step outside of themselves and their culture/life/perspective and walk in anoth
How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? Teaching it from all the different perspectives of those involved, using ";real"; items to bring history to life, creating something you can actively share with others.
I found this kit a fun and engaging way to teach an important part of NZ history. It was great to get the first hand accounts from each person, to understand the different perspectives of everyone involved, and discuss this moment in our shared history. The students absolutely loved the items that they could touch and learn about and create the exhibit around.

How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? This kit allowed me to scaffold the idea of different perspectives and we could build on these slowly, almost without the students even being aware of how they had changed their opinions. Next time I think I will add an activity at the beginning re perspe
How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? This kit has helped me to make learning history much more interesting. Using the artifacts has aided understanding. The discussions in the classroom were at times intense but we got through. I'm so nervous about tackling the difficult subjects now.
This kit was an excellent follow on from our NZ history unit earlier in the year. It was incredibly well put together and easy to use. Some students really struggled with seeing the other point of view and so the social learning is this kit was unparalleled and incredibly valuable!! It was interesting to see the attitudes my yr 7/8/9 students had, and whether or not they changed as we went along.

How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? Students were able to see how although people, characters etc can experience the same scenario, they see and remember different details.
How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? I feel so much more confident in teaching history of Aotearoa in an engaging and meaningful way. The highlight of this kit was how students could see about this day in history through specific viewpoints.
This kit had everything - engaging resources, links to various curriculum areas and content students enjoyed learning about.

How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? This was a fantastic way of teaching children about perspective. It really made them think carefully about things that happened in the past as well as things that happen to us and other people everyday.
How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? This has got me motivated to learn more about NZ history and motivated to teach more of it in class.
This kit was great! Very high interest and really got the children talking and collaborating. My class loved the character cards and the items we received for each character. When displayed on the wall they often were found looking at the display and talking about it with their peers. Unfortunately due to lockdown and moving classrooms due to our school getting new buildings we were unable to have our exhibition but this is something we will be continuing to work towards next term. Would love to do this kit again at some stage with another class. Thanks so much School Kit!

How did this kit help your students to discuss the idea of multiple perspectives? It was fantastic! It was interesting to see how everyone supported the first viewpoint that was presented. Then, when given a second viewpoint, they changed their minds... and back and forth until they were forced to amalgamate all of their ideas and come
How has this kit changed your perspective on teaching NZ History? It was the perfect way to introduce the idea of multiple viewpoints, without seeming biased one way or another. I would like to use this concept in future, as it really opens the mind!
This was an awesome unit - the students loved the story and the mysterious aspects of having sixteen different perspectives on one day. It took them a while to get their heads around it (as did I!) but once we'd unpacked it everyone was really engaged. The objects were a fantastic hook.
