“I used the Bricks Farm with a Year 1 class. The class were put into groups to follow the instructions and build. Some of the instructions were very tricky (for the age) and needed much teacher support. The class were a new Year 1 class, and I think this activity would have worked well with a slightly older class. The children had many great opportunities to build oral language and group work skills. The bricks have been used well in the class since, where the children have built lots of their own constructions. Lots of great fine motor skills are being put to work!”

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them I loved being able to build the pieces. It was tricky but I was proud of myself once I completed the truck. I love this, it is my favourite toy to use during timatanga. I love that we got to make this as a class and work together.

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? I don’t think it was one certain component and once they all came together it was such a fun and interactive resource.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Amazing resilience building, team work and fun!

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them When asked for feedback our tamarki enjoyed using the kit to make new stories, using their imagination and problem solving skills. They highlighted the issues around needing to share and work together taking turns with different parts and story roles/characters.

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? For our studio it was the collaboration of building the kit that had the most impact we had to work together with small prices and also follow instructions.the entire kit also encouraged big picture thinking which I loved!

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? We have kept this kit as part of our learning through play resources and will continue to use it in 2024

“I really enjoyed the collection of bricks and the extras the kit has. We were able to use this kit as Parr of our morning learning through play. It was such a hit with our tamariki it was out most days and it was often asked for as part of free play on rainy days. Playing with this kid the tamarki needed to build collaboration and communication skills and this kit was an an excellent tool for developing these!”

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The trucks and the fruit and veges boxes as the kids were able to really interact with them.

“I’m really sorry but time got away with me this year. I was overseas and then off with ill health so I haven’t used the bricks. I did get my TA to assemble them but didn’t put them out in class. If it is ok with you I will use them with my new class next year.”
