My Year 1 children loved free play with the Lego Bricks Farm! The materials made it easy to bring Te Reo Maori into their play. The jigsaw map was a hit with the kids too. It brightened up the display and gave the area specific boundaries. The Maori sentences game was a great oral activity with the teacher and would be a great independent activity further up the school. Thank you Countdown and School Kit from the children and whanau at Te Mata School.

Okay, so they may not be actual Lego, but nor were they a gazzilion dollars. These bricks have enabled a stretched junior class budget to engage with being creative, across the curriculum. The obvious is design, but the hidden gems of language and discovery were evident from noticing play. Extensions of research - why would you need so much corn? What are baby animals called? Could we make our own maize maze? Importantly they were fun!

We loved the farm bricks. Initially they were used as an inset I’ve to produce brilliant work. The amount of conversation and bartering that came from the play with the jigsaw and created bricks was awesome to hear. We used other bits for writing and language games.

What a fantastic kit! We used it in so many different ways from simple Play to following instructions activities to actually using the kit in the way intended :) My class was very excited to work together to create/ build with all the brick farm and I loved seeing how they worked together, compromised, shared ideas, questioned each other, showed leadership within the group they worked with and solved problems.
