We revisited our class treaty and looked at different ways we could get to know people around the school and find out where they come from. We all so looked at differences and similarities we had with others. We are all unique was a great them for us to w

How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? It has changed the tone of my class and there has been a huge decrease on comments made based on different ethnicities and cultures.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? Acceptance of other students and the uniqueness that they bring to the class. Students were challenged by their hidden bias and a change in vocab and general playground chatter began to change.

How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? Students became more accepting of others in the classroom. They began to see that everyone may have different values and this is what made our class unique. Existing friendships were strengthened and new ones were started.

“This was a great kit. It really got the students thing about hidden racism. The stereotype activity was a hit and made several students very a little uncomfortable in a good way. This unit was a lot more than I expected and I wish that I gave it more time. The term that I used was pretty full. Even though, we gleaned over some parts of the unit I feel that it was timely to challenge students on some of the thoughts and views.”
