I was very impressed with the high standard of presentation of this resource. It was also a very important and timely topic to cover with students this year. The beautiful display made it that much easier to hook my students in from the get go.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? Loads of discussion has lead to improved relationships and respect for more people.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? This reinforced our school whanaungatanga and supported the culture we have in our classroom and at our school. This also tied in nicely with our culturally responsive pedagogy.
A really great resource to use in the classroom to challenge our thinking.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? This brought a lot of similar cultures together in the classroom, the kids loved the activity stereotype Pictionary. I would love to upload pics but can't see how..
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? It became more open and more in-depth discussions flowed.
This was a challenging and thought-provoking unit. The children loved discussing the stereotypes, their cultures and learning about new ones. I really liked the I Wish my teacher knew cards and plan to use the idea when I meet my new class. Thanks

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? The family circle lead to a discussion about who each of us held close to our hearts and why some were closer than others.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? Made students more supportive of others. Would be great as a beginning of year activity.
This kit was a great discussion point starter with my y7-8 class. It opened their eyes to things that were happening in NZ and in our class.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? An acceptance for each other and what they bring to the classroom. Lots of discussions that has lead to improved relationships.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? The display of student work complemented our PB4L wall. The students are showing respect for each other and have begun to ask thoughtful questions about each others cultures which was instigated through the family wheels.
Doing this as an MLE helped our students to form honest and open relationships which has led to some insightful discussions. The culture of the classroom was enhanced b through the activities in this unit. We loved this!

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? Team bonding through discussion and understanding/accepting one another's opinions and beliefs.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? Working together and understanding each others cultures. Students enjoyed sharing their family wheels and giving one another compliments for our wall.
As a part of our MLE classroom our year 7-8 students thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the Not Part of My World activities. They participated in some insightful and in depth discussions through out the course of the unit, which has carried on as a part of our PB4L and circle time activities. An enjoyable kit with some fantastic resources.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? After finishing this kit I had students challenging other students when they mispronounced local place names - so cool to see what they are learning help them become upstanders!
