How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? It gave us greater understanding, we think it is already there, but when you unpack it with tasks like these you can see the misconceptions children have and help them to move forward in their understanding.
A great concept that helped us unpack what it means to be different and how it's okay to be different. One of our favourite quotes that we linked was - I wouldn't change you for the wold but I would change the world for you. The learners really unpacked this idea and came tho their own understanding of what this meant. They were able to see this clearly when we completed the divertisty disks.

This kit helped reinforce the importance of understanding &; acceptance. My students were highly engaged because they felt connected to the discussions that surfaced. We talked about stereotypes &; sense of belonging often. These led to discussions about discrimination &; racism. Such a great unit and hope it comes up again soon.
