What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? We are more aware of people as people rather than “what” we perceive them to be
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? We are more open about our trust and how we can help others with this. We have opened our minds to what we can achieve as individuals no matter where we come from. This was a beautiful kit and I really enjoyed all the discussions it allowed me to have wit
We loved the kit. We enjoyed talking about stereotypes and why we think the way we do! We looked into our trust circles and at what makes us who we are as individuals in this world!

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? The complimenting worked really nicely. And was a feel good for the kids that we did more than once. They enjoyed not only giving the compliments but receiving them also.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? Kids learned to include one another despite differences. And also began to work with others more than what they may have in the past. It had a strong message of working with others no matter what and kids picked up and enjoyed this.
Loved that this integrated so nicely into our class. Kids really enjoyed looking into the diversity of other cultures. Tied in nicely with our inquiry of investigating what other countries do in their cultures.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? It really made us think about how we want to move forwards and about our classroom culture.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? I think it made us aware of the implicit things we do and how we can change these.
We loved using this kit. The yr 5 and 6 were really amazed to discover how they themselves were using things like stereotypes. The activities like stereotype Pictionary, were really helpful to get discussions started. Was really great.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? We are better able to talk about what’s going well and what’s not going well while being respectful towards each other.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? As above.
This was a great kit that helped develop our class culture into a more inclusive, empathetic environment. It was a good way to address the behaviour of some students and for some to voice their opinions.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? We have got new books in the library, we have had two students now opt to use their birth name as opposed to their English name and all students are using their names correctly, we are writing a letter to management encouraging them to look for leaders ou
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? The students had a better understanding and acceptance of one another. Students began (for this first time this year) to show empathy towards one another. We had moments where we were all so deeply touched by each other’s stories good and bad.
Thank you so much School Kit for creating and providing the ‘Not part of my world’ kit. I teach a year 5/6 multicultural class that engaged so well to the messages taught in the kit. It was thought provoking, scary, confronting, alarming, exciting, progressive, challenging and amazing. We had some real genuine highs and lows when teaching and learning about racism. One of the most amazing stories was when we watched a Seven Sharp story about a young girl who experienced racism at her workplace. She shared her story, and was so brave and honest and at the end Paddy Gower gave a very moving summary and every single classmate clapped and cheered. It brings a tear to my eyes now even thinking of it. We had some disclosers of times when some of our classmates have experienced some nasty racist comments. We dug deep into white privilege. We were shocked and embarrassed to find that it’s been over 3 years since we had a coloured skin person as a leader in our school. We took steps to make changes. We are making waves in our school. We are continuing with the journey past the lesson plans. Next term our class is going on their own personal journey of where they come from and they will share together. The students want to know more. I loved this kit. I will teach it every year at the start of term one! It is so empowering and so rewarding. Thank you.
