What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? got us into thinking about NZ. I was impressed that these students didn't seem to have stereotypes. I was quite humbled - and it made me question myself
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? WE are still working with it. It shows how we are different but the same. Teaches us all to be aware of values and that kindness and understanding go a long way

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? The class come up with some small goals such as, stand tall when we do karakia and learn more about each others families.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? I think the kit was a good start to making the students more aware of the world around them and the judgments they make about other people. I think they are more aware of the impact of their actions.
This was a good topic to look at. Some of the content was difficult for my students. They were very confused by the smart goals and it took a few goes. They really like sharing where they came from.

How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? It has made us more aware of other people's languages. I have a very diverse classroom with many cultures. We are all aware of where we come from but understanding that some Sri Lankan's speak Singlese and Malaysian's speak Bahasa.
This was an interesting topic of learning. My Year 5-6 class don't have any of the typical stereotypes but did use stereotypes such as camera's around tourists necks and men vs women in roles.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? The class have become more aware about their actions. Some who have their name said wrong often have had the courage to stand up and create a resource to stop this from happening in the future. Others have dived into the stories of children in the class w
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? Openness to talk to each other about their personal lives. I feel it has made the class closer. More appreciative of each other and their pasts.
Great resource to get the class thinking about stereotypes and their actions towards other people. A good resource to use at the beginning of the year to set the tone of a class.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? I think it is still very much a work in progress and we will readdress next term
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? Students were nicer to each other, but it didn't last, hence me wanting to re look at our plans next term The compliment cards were a real hit, as were the poems.
I loved this kit in that it challenged me and my students to think about the way we all treat each other and the words we used. We talked a lot about the power of positivity and the difference between banter, rudeness, being mean, bullying and racism. I was shocked to learn that there is some - albeit a small amount - of racism in this school and the students were shocked to learn what actually constitutes racism. I did find the instructions hard to follow at times, and wasn't sure if I was always doing it right. I did not like the cards 'what i wish my teacher knew' as it felt like an uncomfortable conversation. I did bring out some negative things, in which a student talked about wanting to kill/harm self. This in the end was a good conversation to have, but it was a hard time to go through, as I felt that the parent blamed me for doing this activity.

How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? this has created a more understanding and even more supportive environment and we have had some great open discussions. This is the third School Kit we have used and our Tamariki get so much out of using them. Just food for thought as mentioned above a
This is a wonderful resource, we are a RBL school and follow Russell Bishops belief that building relationships is key to learners success. We enjoyed using this as we have a very diverse class - I work in a collaborative setting and my colleague and I thought this would be amazing to use at the beginning of the year when we are working on relationships, class expectations etc.....

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? Children are more away of where each other have come from. They are aware of the language they use to describe this too.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? Positive change in the children. They enjoyed the lessons and the discussions afterwards.
Some of the lessons we found hard to follow. It would be great if some of the things in the kit could have been labelled.
