How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? We had a good, positive, inclusive class environment but I believe including this in Term one teaching would give more depth of understanding to the class and also getting to know students backgrounds and beliefs.
This school kit was perfect to use with my Year 7 class. It arrived fully packed with amazingly gorgeous looking resources, stationery, games, stickers, posters.... I liked using this unit as it linked really well to my Kia Kaha anti bullying unit perfectly and made the teaching of this more purposeful and it also gave it a different lens.

How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? Given the multi-cultural and multi-national make up of the class , the various activities really helped the children to understand each other in much deeper ways. The children are all now more knowledgeable about the 'back story' of each other's family.
This was a very well-resourced kit for my Year 5 class. We were very fortunate to be able to partner with Professor Mohan Dutta, Massey University CARE programme. He and his associates took an active role in supporting our learning, helping the children in small groups to curate a photo board to share their personal 'comfort zones', 'zones of difference' where they felt uncomfortable.

Most of the students used alternative, friendly ways to show the stereotypes, which was pleasing to see.

This kit has been an invaluable resource to reinforce the diversity that is a part of our everyday lives and classrooms, whilst also challenging students thinking in appropriate and meaningful contexts. It has been useful not only as a unit but can be referred back to and reused/ reintroduced throughout the school year when the proverbial “wheels fall off”.
