What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? N/A - incomplete
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? Many of the activities I am planning on using at the START of the year with my new class. Would be a great Term 1 kit or end of Term 4 in prep for starting a new class and setting up a positive environment.
My students are a bit sheltered - year 5/6 I'm only a 1/4 of the way through - I have picked out what fits in well with Tuia 250 and where we are going with that. Incidentally, this kit was recommended by the facilitators of Poutama Pounamu.... I'm hoping to recreate some of the resources and use them on a regular basis - they are that good ;-) thank you

We are looking to use this kit for our Culturally Responsive Inquiry school wide next year. We have shared the ' A small change can make a big impact"; with the staff so they can start to make the small changes needed in our school.

How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? The children were introduced to topics and ideas in an engaging way and looked forward to the lessons. Lots of team and group work. Made it so easy not having to create resources to use.
Relevant topic with lots of resources and easy to follow games and plans.

How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? The students have become more cultural aware of others. Showing respect and kindness to one another. Showing them articles of what is going on our world in regards to racism really put it in perspective for them.
This was an amazing School Kit. Well organised and planned out that you can adapt the lessons to the students need.

It was targeted at a higher level than level 2 of the curriculum. My Year four found some of the concepts too challenging to understand.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? It has made us all more aware of the stereotypes that we have been using and that we have been causing offence but have not realised.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? We have focussed on using strength based compliments. As a class we have taken on a kindness challenge and created a Kindness Bingo card for genuine comments. We have been looking to address negative stereotypes.

How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? The children definitely have a better understanding of how to treat others and giving compliments in class has definitely improved the collegiality of our class.
My year 3-4 class really enjoyed learning about Stereotypes and not being judgmental of others. The pictionary game was especially fun with plenty of discussion around the pictures that had been drawn. The topic of Racism also popped up and what it was. I didn't know that my class could have such indepth discussions around this issue. It flowed nicely into guided reading as children were able to make connections within some of the stories they read. The 'trust circles' were an insight into who they trust the most. Nice to see my students opening up.
