How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? Students are now thinking about concepts that they had not really thought of before i.e. Our perceptions about certain people, stereotypes, what people may think about us. Compliments are becoming a normal part of our class culture, both giving and receiv
Very well thought out tasks. I have a year 3-4 class. Some of the tasks were perfect for my age range, some were a little over their heads so I didn't use them or adapted to suit, which is what I appreciate about School Kit resources. Thank you. The teacher journal had some very thought provoking tasks which either reaffirmed/reawakened or had me wondering. Thank you again.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? The SMART goals and many other resources included were particularly useful in supporting the action we planned to take. We were able to link this to our local history and the stories of Parihaka also which captured even more interest and deeper thinking
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? I think the kit has allowed us the open forum for these types of discussion to be had. I have a year 7 class and so is a good age to engage in more meaningful and deep discussion around some important issues that are relevant to us and Aotearoa.
A very big topic but designed in such a way to scaffolded the learning around racism, stereotype and various other forms of discrimination. Some issues and concepts were a bit beyond the levels of some of the year 7s in my class and for others it was very meaningful and thought provoking and challenging learning. Overall a great kit and learning resource!

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? There seems to be a lot more thought in what they say to each other and about each other - gone is a lot of the 'just joking' throw away comments. Such a thought provoking kit! It was amazing to see the 'aha' moments as students really began to take on some of the deeper learning. The changes in some of the thinking was great. Would definitely do it again - challenged both myself and the students.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? We opened up our understanding of Te Ira Tangata and feelings and thoughts around those who are not Māori and celebrating the other parts of your whakapapa.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? It allowed us to draw on the tikanga aspects that show ngakau nui ki nga tangata katoa. it is not always a Pakeha Maori world but a world based on Tangata. Ha aha te mea nui o te ao , He tangata , He Tangata , He Tangata.
This was awesome i had to work a little with drawing on culture as i work in KKM and aspects of our culture are obvious. But i got students to look at other cultures in their whakapapa and that was great.
