What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? Our school value for the term was diversity and it tied in beautifully with that. We continued on with exploring and highlighting our cultures. We had a two week homework project based around ";No New Zealander has timid ancestors"; where parents were int
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? It continued the celebration of our cultures and raised the importance of diversity. It tied in with our inquiry into climate refugees and the importance of maintaining culture and also refugees and the challenges they face. We talked about the importance
The value of this unit was in how it made you reflect on the fact that all of us came to New Zealand as immigrants, for a wide range of reasons but mostly seeking a better life. Whether that was this year or many generations ago. It highlights what we have in common and the importance of celebrating our diversity.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? Enabled students to think about where we are as a class and make some goals
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? Wouldn't say it changed the environment. It did get students thinking about how we perceive types of people
Loved the clear instructions on how to use the resource. As a teacher I think I really benefited from the resource and was able to challenge my own thinking. I have a year 5&;6 class and I think some of the thinking and the activities went over there head and they lost the whole understanding of the resource.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? We now have the confidence to pull others up if they say something disrespectful about someone else.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? We now follow the motto ";give nothing to racism";. We know that we should never make a joke or negative comment about someones identity - their culture, race, ethnicity or heritage.
Thanks for an engaging kit. The class enjoyed challenging their beliefs and learning of the effect of what we say. Our school had our Cultural Week last week, where the children's learning was put into context by learning about all of our cultures and what makes our diversity so special.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? We haven't gotten as far as setting up an action plan yet.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? I am beginning to see and hear some more respectful conversations but there is a long way to go. Hoping that the continuation of this kit will improve the situation some more next term. Will add photos of 'so far' on FB later.
Great resource. I took over a new class so some of the activities helped us in getting to know each other. The class have a lot to learn about respect in general and treating other people in their class with kindness. They also don't speak well of themselves so we didn't get it all finished and will be continuing with some of this in Term 4

Nothing wrong with the kit but I just didn't find it suited the makeup of my class which isnt very multicultural. Having worked in Auckland and more multicultural environments, I can see how this would bring out some amazing conversations.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? It allowed them to reflect on the impact people can have in your life. They really enjoyed the compliment poem and it allowed them to think about how we take to others.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? It has made it more positive and thoughtful. The compliment poem allowed the class to see and think deeper about others and their feelings. I found it really interesting to see who the students selected on their circles about who was important to them. It
This was a great unit that my class really enjoyed. They found it very relevant with everything happening in the world at the moment and enjoyed getting to know and understand the different cultures in the classroom.

The kit tied in well with our conceptual inquiry into how New Zealand has changed over time. Relevant and thought provoking experiences which challenged us all, and forced us to consider our own attitudes towards cultural difference. An absolute favourite school kit. Thank you!

How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? see above please
We are halfway through the kit, so far we have found the discussion and activities very useful in supporting a more inclusive classroom culture. The children have challenged stereotypes and beliefs they had about different groups of people, we are having a big focus separating who people are from what they look like. This has aligned really well with mental health awareness week this week. Giving and receiving genuine compliments about other has helped children to be more accepting about difference.
