How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? see above please
We are halfway through the kit, so far we have found the discussion and activities very useful in supporting a more inclusive classroom culture. The children have challenged stereotypes and beliefs they had about different groups of people, we are having a big focus separating who people are from what they look like. This has aligned really well with mental health awareness week this week. Giving and receiving genuine compliments about other has helped children to be more accepting about difference.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? It started some conversations and growing the children's awareness.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? The children are continuing to grow their awareness of racism and their mindfulness around this.
The content of the kit was good, but it wasn't really suitable for year 3/4, which was the lowest year it was advertised for. A lot of the material that it covered was quite above my class' ability to understand and I had to modify a lot of the content to put it in contexts that they would understand.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? More aware of the differences in the what each person holds important to them. Many tasks had been completed early in the year with very similar activities.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? Small changes in the way the children interact with each other, but significant in how it makes them feel.
A great journal to work through as a teacher. I have saved many of the hard resources to use for the beginning of next year as we had completed many similar tasks already this year. I would highly recommend for teachers to complete the journal and implement the action plan.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? A greater awareness was developed nand good strategies were discussed and action plans created to prevent these comments being accepted in our school and community
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? Students positively utilise the compliment ideas and have adapted them. Refer to our plans to counteract negative comments. Taking ownership for class and school tone.
This was a fantastic unit- allowing for great discussion and depth of thinking. Great awareness was developed about stereotypes and where they come from and how we are exposed to them. Great discussions and action plans were created to help combat these when we are exposed to them. We are not culturally diverse in our school and somewhat sheltered so it was good to expose students to this level of thinking and put in action plans as they will meet this when they go on to bigger schools. Thank you so much for creating this poignant kit and allowing us a suitable amount of time to develop depth of thinking and exploration.

Great unit, well resourced. Some lessons could have been expanded on to deepen understanding. Fitted well into a term and applied to all learners.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? We found that as a class we were pretty tolerant of others, but some of us didn't realise what racism is/ can look like. We also realised that our families were pretty tolerant people, but that some of the other people around us might not be. We decided t
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? It meant that we have been having more discussions like this and the kids are asking more questions. We have called people out if they've told a joke that isn't funny. It also lead to discussions about things like mental health, Treaty of Waitangi, Refuge
This kit was a great way to introduce stereotypes and to open a dialogue about racism. We especially enjoyed the compliment and pictionary activities.
