What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? Our students learned a lot more about each other in a more in depth way, rather than just what was on the surface.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? Our students began to challenge each other and become more knowledgeable, articulate upstanders. They are developing a strong sense to defending the freedom of others to be who they are.
What a fabulous kit to challenge teacher and student thinking. Students had to think deeply about their comments and actions and how their own background affected how they think about others, including those who are different to them.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? It made the students revisit ideas from the start of the year (celebrating difference, who am I? what do I believe in and value? etc)
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? It helped re boot and deepen empathy and get the children thinking at a deeper level about differences and similarities and the sort of place they want to live in.
An interesting unit which my Year 7 students, multi cultural found quite challenging especially at the start as the idea of differences as a reason for prejudice was actually quite new to them.

How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? Students are a lot more aware of the words that they say to each other and how we a class we need to be inclusive of everything we come into contact with as we grow up.
What an amazing kit! It tides in so nicely to our inquiry question around the community. As a class, we looked deeply into our own self identity and what we stand for. We also put all of our learning from the kit into our end of year TLC evening.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? It was really interesting to explore the things 'my teacher might now know'. It was actually quite insightful for my practice.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? Generally improved acceptance and respect for one another.
Our class isn't hugely multicultural so this kit allowed us the tools to explore multiculturalism, and the misconceptions we may have.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? We have an 'I wish my teacher knew..' But adapted it to 'A we need to talk' box where children can anonymously let us know something or else sign their name if they would like it followed up.
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? Our environment was always open but I think it let the children challenge their own ideologies and throughout the year we looked at stereotypes etc.
The teacher book was great- really got me to think about my own ideas around race etc. I didn't feel the child part of it went as deep as it could have so I adapted a lot of it to relate it to my children and made it appropriate to what they were able for. However as a base it was good.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? We achieved a couple of our smart goals (learning five facts about each country people in the class have links to, learning and pronouncing greetings etc in the home languages in our class correctly). Impact: students open to other cultures of children
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? The class are more aware and sensitive of others. Different cultures and countries are now seen as positives. Students are more curious. They are more aware of their classmates and they seem to be making an effort to get to know people in the class they w
I loved the content and set out of this kit. The kids loved it too - the stereotypes game was their favourite part and we recycled it over and over again, and even wrote our own versions. We also wrote a ";Whānau Interview' to conduct at home and collected information about where we live, and where we're from. We took it a step further and built a picture of what being a NZer is, for us. In retrospect, I didn't realise how much was in this kit and how long it would take. I would like to have committed more time to this kit to really do it justice. It's the kind of topic that takes some delving into. I am planning on using aspects of it for a relationships unit I'm planning for term 2 next year. Thank you very much for a thoughtful and well planned unit, one that I will reuse every year.

What impact has the introduction of the action plan had on your classroom? The action plan was a great way to get my students involved in our outcomes from this kit. It made it easy to see real-world applications for what we were learning. My class voted that they wanted to focus on pronouncing everyone's names correctly and one
How did using this kit change the environment in your classroom? This kit has definitely made my students more aware of the world around them and the challenges some people face. I can see that they are understanding and applying some of the lessons we discussed in their everyday lives. It's great to see a kit encourag
I did this kit with my Year 3 class and it was a wonderful way to open up discussions that can sometimes be difficult to have with younger children. This kit was mostly age appropriate and it helped my class talk about issues such as racism, sexism, and stereotypes. The activities provided were fun but meaningful for both my students and myself.
