In what ways did the Teacher Journal challenge you? Reminders and reflections helped reflect on unintended privilege and or bias.
The level of engagement was good, many segways into segregation, black civil rights, black lives in matter etc. Good topics, some good activities and thought no provoking work.

In what ways did this kit empower your students to challenge racism? Many students found we are all often racist without meaning to be. We are now thinking more carefully about stereotypes and jokes as well as cultural diversity. We have also looked at texts like The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas to see the dangers and horror

How effective was the use of social Media for Fighting Social Injustice The students loved this.
In what ways did the Teacher Journal challenge you? To widen my understanding about the effects of colonisation. This helped also in the senior school where I teach N Z poetry and also The Sapphires[ Aborigine film] I also am thinking even more about the cultural needs of my students.
My students are enjoying thinking about prejudice in all its forms. They were a pretty tolerant and caring bunch before but they are now thinking more carefully about racism, bullying, respect and unintentional racism and stereotyping.

In what ways did this kit empower your students to challenge racism? This enabled students to connect with their own identity first and realise the connection between things they value and the commonalities with other cultures and belief systems.

How effective was the use of social Media for Fighting Social Injustice This was a powerful way to engage the students as it was on a platform they were familiar with. It also enabled them to take the lead in the learning as they were more familiar with it than me.
In what ways did the Teacher Journal challenge you? It helped me to reflect on my own unconscious bias and enabled me to develop strategies to ensure I create a more inclusive classroom environment.
This kit provided a structured and 'safe' way to have what can be at times, difficult conversations. It allowed students to see value in all cultures, not just their own. It also gave them a new insight into the history of Aotearoa and the importance of our bicultural partnership.

In what ways did this kit empower your students to challenge racism? Allowed them to racism on a more hidden level - it’s not always blatant. Giving them those tools allows them to look for it in their own lives.

In what ways did the Teacher Journal challenge you? Do not wish to answer
A lot of resources for students to realise racism in their own lives. Some of the content might be a bit confronting (information about their classroom/school) which may not work well in classrooms that do not have safe learning environments already set up. I would not suggest tackling this without any warning or not acknowledging your position in racism (especially if you are a pakeha teacher)

In what ways did this kit empower your students to challenge racism? My efforts with this unit were messed up entirely by lockdown and I had to continue with another thing after we returned.

How effective was the use of social Media for Fighting Social Injustice This is a superb idea - timely and a form that ensured high engagement
In what ways did the Teacher Journal challenge you? It did challenge us to check our assumptions
Really professional resources and lots of interesting activities. I don't have the kit at home so I can't remember the details but there was a wheel that had some statements about teachers that we thought were a bit confronting - I'm sure that was the point, but my teachers felt too uncomfortable to use it.
