In what ways did the Teacher Journal challenge you? Lots of big ideas for teachers to engage with and reflect on their own assumptions and how they impact their practice.
“Unfortunately due to the extended lockdown in Auckland we didn't get much of an opportunity to use the resources with students, although we did try to adapt some of the resources for online discussion. I did enjoy the teacher resources and we will continue to use the kit in our Human Rights and Migration units in 2022 where we explore issues of racism.”

“I thought my cultural competency was good. The student voice dial woke me up. Like many I have spoken to since, I had fallen into the trap of focusing on my cultural competency as it applies to teaching Maori students - and hadn't moved in my practice to to be culturally sustaining for other minority cultures. That was my first wake up call. The stereotypes activity was a wake up call for my students and provoked ALOT of self awareness. We ran out of time to do the Instagram campaign - will be returning to this next year - but we are incorporating the kit into out Yr 10 programme over these holidays for next year. Thank you for producing a kit on this kaupapa.”

“Our department has a strong focus on the issue of equity. We teach a lot of texts that deal with discrimination and marginalisation in our senior programme. This kit is an excellent precursor in the junior school and we have built an equity unit around it.”
