“I love how user friendly the kit is with extra ideas provided to extend the kids. It was well suited for the Year 7 &; 8 year group and was not too ";young"; looking which is important.”
“Some of my students were interested in the token system.
Not many of them had their letters from whanau completed, therefore I couldn't do that particular activity.
I did not get very far in the programme as the interest just wasn't there.”
“Excellent kit- got the students talking about their feelings more. Looking at images portrayed in the media was also thought provoking for my students.”
“My students love receiving a box from School Kit. They know something special is about to happen. This kit was no different, they wanted to jump right into it. The journal is full of thought provoking ideas and students really treasured them, knowing it was personal and private. Parents enjoyed getting involved. The recharge mat was constantly used during the day and those students not able to read confidently would bring cards for me to read. Eventually they also went to classmates to share their cards. But the tokens, for me, was the biggest win. It gave me the opportunity to understand how my students were feeling on a day to day basis and start conversations with them to support them during their day. I have loved this kit, thank you to Dove and School Kit for an amazing opportunity to get to know my students even better.”
“The preteaching was very valuable, lots of opportunities to discuss emotional intelligence. Links throughout the Cirriculum aswell as a resilience focus worked well for my Y7 Class.”
“I have absolutely loved using the Dove Self Confidence kit in my class this term and it linked perfectly with our school-wide 'Kindness' unit. The kit itself was thoughtfully crafted and we particularly enjoyed working through the self journals - as well as receiving letters from their special people. The charging station was used as a daily check-in for all students and it provided me with an opportunity to connect with those who placed their tokens in the orange where sometimes they may have flown under the radar. Those who placed their tokens in the red were able to have their issues addressed, either through conversation or by completing the help card, which made them feel heard. My students have thoroughly enjoyed this and we will continue using the daily check-in system for the remainder of the year. Another winner - thanks School Kit!”
“I really enjoyed using this kit, as did my class. The maintenance of the pockets on the wall wasn't my favourite part of the resource, but the fact that I needed to repair them is a good indication that the tamariki utilised the cards!”
