My Self Confidence 21 Reviews

My students really enjoyed using the booklets to build a better understanding of how they are feeling. I teach a class of Year 8 girls and this kit allowed us to explore together how to show more self love and be accepting of the place they are in at that moment. This kit also allowed my students to consider how other people may be feeling and what they can do to support them. I will continue to use the daily check in and card system next term.

This kit was the catalyst for some wonderful discussions around self esteem, what the boys can do to help themselves and the importance of having positive people around them. The 'Letters From A Caring Adult' were a particular highlight, with a couple getting really emotional as they read, or shared the most impacting parts. Thank you for this kit, it has really helped enhance the culture within our class.

We have made a great start with the kit. It linked in really well with some of our mahi for Pink Shirt day. All of the links in the planning have been really useful. The videos at the beginning of the planning generated excellent discussion amongst the students. We are still exploring the ways we can achieve each of the four aspects of self esteem. This has provided a platform for some of my students who have been struggling with self esteem to consider how to shrink and boosts aspects that are important to them. Their favourite task was getting the letter from their caring adult - all of the students used the format to write back to their caring adult (a very emotional experience for all of the students and the adults they selected to write their letter). Outstanding kit!!!!

I wasn't aware that students did this last year at their previous school but it was good to reinforce and they still enjoyed it. I liked the cards for students to fill in if they put the token in the red slot.

The introduction to this kit was fantastic with the 2 clips online - we got a lot of discussion out of these - around being happy with who we are and what we have. Great messages. The booklet first two pages were good to fill out - the students loved finding out the meaning of their name and also what 3 word I use to describe them. The next page in the booklet was left out as we didn't ask family members to fill it in. This would have meant sending them home and we might not have got them back. We had a nice time discussing the letters from home. We had a good response and got lots of special messages from our family - for now and the future from whanau. We had a good talk about these. We use the tokens each morning to check in. This is going ok - those feeling in the red, have to fill in the red card and pop it into a box for me to read later. We filled in the rest of the booklet and looked out each section. From the second to last page we had a session around looking at things we can control and can not control and this went well. The check in - recharge mat was great by my door - but some students could not manage themselves well so it was removed. I will try again soon with a different expectation and reminding of rules. I have not worked out how to link in the wall display check in. I showed my students and we read one card from it and tried to tell jokes for self care. I am not sure if I have implemented this right - do the students take and keep the cards? When do they use it? How have others linked this in with the kit? Most of the kit went well. The students gained a sense of self and awareness of self and others.

This was really effective for my class of Year 8 students who come from relatively troubled and traumatic lives. It was a great way for me to see who i need to check in with daily as well as who may need more support in general as they were in the red zone every single day. It was also a fantastic way for other students to see that their own thinking and self esteem can impact and effect others by doing simple things. Am starting to work with 'zones of regulation' next term and think this has been the perfect lead into this!

Thank you the kit was useful and aligned well with our school values as one of them is resilience. The majority of the kit we used, parts of the kit were probably better suited to Yr 5/6 + students. We really loved the tokens in particular, they created great discussion points.

This is a wonderful Kit to teach students resilience and how to identify their emotions. It was really fun setting up the station and it added as a beautiful,eye-catching and colourful display. I've only introduced the toolkit a few weeks ago and are still exploring it with my students (a year 3 class). we have also done the Zones of Regulations with our students and the two programmes work well together. I'm looking forward using the Dove Toolkit for the rest of the year. Thank you for making toolkits such as these available to teach students about emotional wellbeing. It is a wonderful resource that I will recommend to all my colleagues.
