How has this kit impacted your class community during covid times? As a school we have had only a few students away with Covid and working remotely. Therefore I can not assess the impact on the class community over Covid.

How has this kit helped develop Student-Teacher communication? It has helped those who are less likely to make their feelings known to the teacher... those who fly under the radar. It has given me, as the teacher, a chance to identify and talk with those who are experiencing challenges.

“It tidied in well with other programmes we use in the school such as the same colours as zones of regulation. Although the red zone is overexcited or out of control and we have blue for feeling low. The students took some time to get used to the change of around red meaning low.”

How has this kit helped develop your student's self confidence? Students have grown their self confidence as they know it is okay to be feeling all these different feelings/colours and they now with the self charging cards have the tools to help themselves move through them and help others.

“Introduced some good discussion about emotions and regulation. Found the booklets a bit wordy for the students and not hugely relevant. The charging station was a huge hit at the beginning but students were reluctant to put red cards in the envelopes and preferred to give them straight to me. The green and orange cards were not effective at all as they were far too wordy for Year 5/6 students and they couldn't be bothered reading it all. As a teacher it was hard to follow it up as well. Overall found the topic of the programme a good talking point but the implementation of it either not effective or not age appropriate. Would have been better to have some kind of accountability structure where students had discussion opportunities around regulating emotions or on recording how they were feeling and their next steps etc.”

“As the resources didn't arrive until the middle of the term I had photo copied most off as it was something that we really wanted to do to start the year. My students found some of the questions confusing and it would have been better to wait until the proper resources arrived.”
