“Thanks for putting together such a detailed package. Unfortunately for it to be used to the full extent it would be a priorty subject. It was great to have as an option but I felt what it was worth I didn't get to use.”

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them The cards made me think and help with what was happening with me. When I'm not feeling good, the teacher aide worked through the card and it made me feel better.
Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The cards - great resource.
What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? This kit is a marvellous creation. With so many more students experiencing social and emotional dysregulation, this kit provided professional learning for our teachers, but also supported our students with strategies to help themselves.

“This kit has been so beneficial to students who have found social interactions challenging and / or regulating their emotions. For these students who lack the self-confidence and esteem to put themselves forward or make the first step, it has really given them strategies and tools to help. The resources are, especially the My Self booklet and the cards were brilliant. The cards were great points to start a conversation and for students to read themselves and have the words to use.”

These activities have given me time to focus on who I am and to stand up and be proud of who I am.” - Marla and “The activities made me feel empowered to be happy in my own skin. Reading the letter was emotional for me because I realise that it’s okay to be me.” - Isla
Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The journal. It gave students time to look at themselves and reflect. The caring adult letter. All of our students were able to connect with a caring adult to see how they thought about them. All of them have seen a different perspective and are now trying to understand and align that with their own thoughts.
What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? They can have bad days, connect with the teacher and learn from them. We are going to keep the wall display up for next years group also.
In what ways has this kit helped develop student confidence I think the student voice says it all. These students feel empowered and accepted for being them. It has given them the confidence to have big feelings and learn to manage them.

“I bravely took on this kit for the last 5 weeks of Term 4. My class have had an interesting year and some self-doubt had kicked in just before they head off to their chosen high schools. They are at a point where they are excited, nervous, looking at each others social cues and just a wee bit apprehensive about just being themselves. The self-confidence kit gave my students a chance to reflect on how others see them, and how they can own who they are. It gave them time to reflect on their schooling, their choices and time to look forward into their future. I feel happy that these students are feeling more confident about themselves now, at the end of Year 8, before heading into high school.”
