Feedback to principal from students was "We love the recharge station, Matua put it up in our class and we have our own tokens, the green zone means we can pay it forward, the orange zone means we need a recharge and the red zone means were not in a good space and a trusted adult will come and see us" Year 6 students (During the principals appraisal).......... I loved the letter from my Mum, it made me feel like she is in the classroom.
Which kit components were the most impactful and why?
The letter from the parents: We were able to bring their voices as a tool of motivation into the classroom. The pride each child had reading those letters was priceless. The recharge station itself is a winner. I had Tokoroa Intermediate School ask about it because they were fascinated with what the children were saying about the recharge station.
What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners?
That problems dont last. That there is a way forward for them. That there are adults that care about their problems. That they were heard and loved in the moment they really needed it.
In what ways has this kit helped develop student confidence
Just the ability to be able to locate their feelings. To know that when their in a great space, you can help others come to the same level. That regardless of what they go through, there is a way forward.

How has this kit helped develop student resilience?
I've seen children graduate from red zone, and move into Orange zone, then move into the green zone. It's the fact that they know there is a way to move forward.

The classroom have become more accepting of differences, they've acknowledged that we all come in at different moods and to give space and empathy for others who need it.
