Which kit components were the most impactful and why? Didn't get to use to the degree it was intended for as it didn't match what I was trying to teach.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? None - they didn't show much enthusiasm for the tasks we did.

“When I ordered the box, it wasn't clear what I was getting. Teaching Year 7 I thought "My Self Confidence" would be perfect for including with our puberty unit and teaching about loving yourself and being kind to one another while going through those changes. When I got the box and my students saw it, their instant response was "Ohh, not that, We did that at primary". This wasn't a good start but I looked through for things that I could use. To be honest I didn't use many of the resources due to not being the right fit for what I was trying/hoping to teach. If I had more information about what was actually in the box (clear explanations, rather than photos). I would have been able to realise this was the right kit for this purpose. I do plan to use some of the resources in Term 1 with my new Year 7s to get to know each other and build confidence.”

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them 'Sometimes when I come to school I feel really tired because the baby was crying in the night but when I used the recharge station and the cards to shrink it I felt better.' 'I improved my self respect by asking for help so I didn't do the activity wrong and I also shared my ideas in my DMIC group instead of saying nothing.' "I learned my super power and my friends' super powers so we could all help each other with what we are good at.'

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The charging station and shrink and boost cards were really popular and they gave the kids a different mindset when they needed it. Also the my-self daily check cards as they felt likemthey were being heard and valued.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? More confidence and positive feelings and the knowledge that they are important to their family and teacher and classmates.

How has this kit helped develop student resilience? My students became adept at identifying how they were feeling and why that might be and what they could do to make them feel better. Also the importance of respecting themselves anf others.

What impact has this kit had on your classroom community? The students are more ready to speak about how they are feeling and support each other. They can identify the level of their personal battery and use some learned strategies to take control and either shrink or boost to get themselves to a good place. The kit also made them aware of the benefits of asking for help.

“We ran this kit in Term 3 and we were also a trial class for a new project called Rima - 5 Steps to Emotional Well-Being which fitted in very nicely with My Self-Confidence. My students loved filling in their booklet and getting input from their whanau with the parent letter and the circle of influence. Some kids just lit up when they saw what their parent had written. They really took ownership of the learning this kit provided and were very open and honest in their conversations. Related questions and ideas came up regularly in our class community meetings. The recharge station was very popular and there was insightful and supportive discussion and behavior that arose from the cards. The feelings box was great for checking in with students who needed that extra support. Thank you to Dove and the School Kit Squad for a fabulous resource.”

“The students enjoyed filling out the books about themselves as well as using the tokens to check in with how they are feeling. I found some of the material was a little advanced for some of my students so had to adapt and didn't get huge discussions about the topic from them.”

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them Feedback to principal from students was "We love the recharge station, Matua put it up in our class and we have our own tokens, the green zone means we can pay it forward, the orange zone means we need a recharge and the red zone means were not in a good space and a trusted adult will come and see us" Year 6 students (During the principals appraisal).......... I loved the letter from my Mum, it made me feel like she is in the classroom.

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The letter from the parents: We were able to bring their voices as a tool of motivation into the classroom. The pride each child had reading those letters was priceless. The recharge station itself is a winner. I had Tokoroa Intermediate School ask about it because they were fascinated with what the children were saying about the recharge station.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? That problems dont last. That there is a way forward for them. That there are adults that care about their problems. That they were heard and loved in the moment they really needed it.

In what ways has this kit helped develop student confidence Just the ability to be able to locate their feelings. To know that when their in a great space, you can help others come to the same level. That regardless of what they go through, there is a way forward.

What impact has this kit had on your classroom community? The classroom have become more accepting of differences, they've acknowledged that we all come in at different moods and to give space and empathy for others who need it.
