"I learned how my feelings about myself can change and that it's normal." "We talked about the way we feel and think and how that changes how we can act towards ourselves. We can be kind to ourselves like we are kind to our friends."
Which kit components were the most impactful and why?
The self check in or 'charging station'. When we thought about our feelings as batteries and how this can get drained it was like an a-ha moment for some kids. We also talked about it in terms of 'how full is your cup'? We discussed ways we can recharge or help others to recharge as well.
What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners?
Students are using shared language now, which means they have a better ability to name and identify their own and others' feelings rather than saying 'I don't know'.

Students are more empowered to consider what it is that they are needing from themselves or others. They also consider how they can help their friends so they know they can overcome challenges.

Building confidence means we feel we have the resources to meet and work through obstacles, so it relates directly to how this helped build student confidence.

Again, this is the shared language. Students can tell one another "my batter is low" or "my cup is empty right now". And others can say, "what can I do to reacharge/refill?" It's super supportive.
