What impact has this kit had on your classroom community? Much friendlier and less mean comments.

“It is the 1st time I've used the My Self Confidence program and it was better than I expected. The outcome for myself and my students was that we learnt to "power up" our feelings and be aware of whether we are feeling low, okay or great. The students started paying attention to each other's feelings and sitting in different groups to be with students who didn't have many friends. Students didn't want to hurt each other's feelings and became less competitive towards those less able.”

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them 'I liked being able to express how I was feeling' 'I liked opening and reading the letter from home!"

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? Using the tokens had probably the most impact on the students. The letters that were sent home for mum/dad to fill in was a bit of a disaster as the parents didn't get the memo about what they were and ended up sharing with their child what was on it so it lost impact! And a large number didn't send them back!

“Our class used the My Self Confidence Kit in Term 3. It was a good way to see how things were going with my students and how they were feeling day to day. The students developed better skills at saying how they feel - naming the emotions!”

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them It was good to share how we felt at the start of the day. I liked getting a letter from my Uncle in South Africa, because I haven't seen him for a long time.

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? Special Adult letters, tokens, circles of influence, videos on how we see ourselves.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? YOu are not alone. YOu have people all around you who love you for the special things that make you, you.

In what ways has this kit helped develop student confidence KNowing they have a safety net of people, family and safe adults around them.

“Loved the videos and the class discussion about the ways we see ourselves and our inner voices. That was powerful. The special adult letters and circle of influences were amazingly touching and super important to the heart of the unit. The batteries were also fun to fill in together as a class.”

“We weren't able to use the whole kit but have linked it into the Zones of Regulation and Hauora - the charging station in particular has been very helpful. Initially this worked very well but more recently the student engagement hasn't been as high. This would be better to try again at the start of the school year with more work being done learning how to use and understand the shrink/boost cards.”

“I asked for the unit as I was 1:1 teaching a young student with wellbeing needs every day. The kit didn’t really provide what I thought I could use so I gave it to one of our classroom teachers in Year 4-5. They found it helpful.”
