Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The tokens that went into the box. The tamariki loved incorporating this into their morning routine and having something physical.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Tamariki have their books that are kept in their tote trays to look back and reflect on when they are in the red area. They are able to use the tools they learnt in this kit to help themselves and pass that information onto others.

In what ways has this kit helped develop student confidence By using the red sheets that were kept in the red envelopes, tamariki were able to see that feeling low is normal and okay and gave them the tools to deal with it. It also helped them to cope with and support others who were low.

How has this kit helped develop student resilience? Tamariki now have the view that when someone reacts, it is for a deeper underlying reason. They are aware that there is some healing that needs to happen for that tamaiti to return to green there needs to be some extra awhi.

“My tamariki thoroughly enjoyed all the elements of this kit. They loved having their own token to place in the box each morning, having their own special book, and each getting a turn to stand on the mat. We used the Importance of Caring Adult letters within our kura rather than sending them home to ensure that each tamaiti received a genuine letter in an appropriate amount of time. Initially, the tamariki were getting confused between our PB4L zones of regulation and the self-confidence tokens.”

“This kit has been amazing for my class. I have several students who had difficulty dealing with big emotions of their own and tended to be triggered when one of the others was having a meltdown (think dominoes but with desk thumping and tears). This kit has given them some language and tools to help them self regulate better.”

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them It's okay to have an off moment, but I know how to talk positively and remind myself of the good to get out of my funk. I didn't realise people looked at my differently than how I look at myself.

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? Booklets were amazing - engaging for students and having everything in one place, plus the ability to have it go home and come back to school. Parent Letters - reading with students what their parents had written. Wow!

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? That it is important that you think positively about yourself and not worry what others think of you.

“This kit has been amazing to use with students, they enjoyed coming to school in the morning and using the tokens to evaluate where they were at. Student 2: I like the booklet we got, it had lots of hepful information. It helped me to understand why I get angry or tired. This is when I get water or sit somewhere quietly and breath.

“This kit was wonderful. I used it as part of teaching puberty to year 8 girls. The themes were perfect for using alongside the unit. I love the quality of the cards as they can be reused next year. I would have liked the class banner to be in one piece rather than two. :)”
