When receiving their letter from their caring adult, one student said 'man, this is emotional. I didn't know she cared so much'. Another student when working through the booklet - 'Hey I do that all the time, that's my strength!' And realised that while they can be seen as the 'disruptive kid' they have some strengths that make them a great member of the class.
Which kit components were the most impactful and why?
The letters from a caring adult and the 'Check your Charge' pages in the book that shows the students how they can show each of the aspects.
What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners?
For many, just knowing that they have strengths that are maybe a bit more hidden than those 'tall poppies' that are out there and that their strengths are just as valuable will be so important to them going forward. They now have more confidence to be themselves rather than what they think others think they should be.
In what ways has this kit helped develop student confidence
They all know of at least one, some many, adults in their lives that they can rely on. Being Year 7 & 8 they often start to think that they are too old to talk to their parents or that it's 'awkward' but they are now more forthcoming with sharing their emotions with those around them, including adults. They now have the confidence in themselves to help others more around the school and be more positive with each other. Which totallty changes the culture in the classroom.

How has this kit helped develop student resilience?
The students are more positive and supportive with each other. They are more willing to participate as they don't fear judgement from others as much. Part of this is becasue they are also just more confident in themselves and know who theyt can turn to if something does go wrong.
How high was student engagement throughout this kit?
What impact has this kit had on your classroom community?
More positivity and support with each other in the classroom. More self-confidence. Students more willing to take risks and complete work of various types. Greater engagement from parents, including some who hadn't enaged before.
