Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them I liked putting the token in the battery box. The token helped me to tell my teacher how I was feeling. I like how I had my own special book to write in.

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The token/battery charging worked a treat. Children would fill in the red zone form and place on my desk so I could pick a quiet moment to catch up with them. This was done in a timely manner and help to recharge batteries quickly. Children would read the cards to help boost and support each other. They created discussion of how they could make their battery full or what to do further with a full battery.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? That it is ok to be different to others. That it is also important to be accepting of other people's differences.

In what ways has this kit helped develop student confidence If anything the kit has helped me to recognise children who had low confidence. Some able learners really struggled with looking within and finding things to say about themselves that were great. This in turn helped me to be conscious of reaching out to these learner more often to help with boosting confidence.

How has this kit helped develop student resilience? I feel the kit helped to begin opening up discussions about resilience. Using the kit in Term 3 helped to reset some mindsets as some children were beginning to give up quickly.

“What a great way to engage in self-reflection! The learning from this kit needs to continually be part of everyday thinking, to be 'very' successful in building student confidence. This shouldn't be a one off program but a daily/yearly/lifetime process. The video links created lots of discussions, particularly about our perceptions of looks. The booklets helped with breaking down negative barriers and tried to build on the 'superpowers' the children had.”

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them They're hard to understand. It did nothing to help. I don't like the colour yellow. The teacher could have given a better explanation about it because I kind of didn't get it at the start.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? The legacy of the kit is that our students now have some strategies to manage their feelings and know that it is OK to show feelings and ask for support from others.

“The kit was a great resource for use alongside our well-being unit. The students were motivated and eager to use their tokens every day. The tokens also gave the teachers a chance to know who was not feeling so great that day. The booklet activities were easy to use and there was lots of discussion about each activity.”

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them A student who was feeling angry and had had an unproductive morning began working through the book (self care, self belief) in the afternoon. I was a total reset as he was able to see his strengths and identify why he was feeling the way he was. He was able to move forward a positive mindset. Several children while working through the book were able to clearly share aspects of how they feel according to their self belief, self awareness etc which opened up some fantastic discussions and helped me to gain a deeper understanding of how they feel.

“This is a very worthwhile kit to work through with your class. In particular, the book the children work through is very useful as it helps children identify their emotions and their ability to be resilient, whether it be their self belief, self care, self awareness or self control. The pack of suggestions that children can independently use are also great as they are relevant, easy to understand and useful. At the least, after using this kit children will have a greater awareness of their strengths and their understanding of themselves. Further more, children have the ability to work on areas or emotions with useful and relevent tips and are able to help each other as they navigate day to day emotional challenges.”

"I didn't know what to do if I didn't feel good but now I have some ideas of what to do." many students said they would like more options about how they are feeling like a continuum.

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The cards that they could use green, and yellow and then the red card I found great because it helped them express their thoughts and be able to articulate what was making them sad or angry or anxious.e

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? That other people feel that way too sometimes and that there are strategies they can use to help themselves but also their teacher cares about their well being

“My school has started using an online well-being app the students use to record their well being every day. I used this and then tried the tokens. The tokens were a lot quicker and didn't involve getting devices out! The students enjoyed the recharge mat also...although some of my (year 7) boys said it didn't work.”

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The charge box with tokens. This gave the students an anonymous voice to check in with both of us teachers if they needed.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? We haven't shared the whānau letters yet but I know that these will be very powerful for the students to read what the special adults in their life have to say about them.
