Which kit components were the most impactful and why? 1. The tokens and recharge station, as it provided an interactive wall display full of tips and improved our awareness of our own needs and the needs of others. 2. The 'My Self' booklets as super engaging and full of well presented great advice.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? It helped make it okay to talk about feelings and empowers them to improve their self-confidence. Provided strategies to improve self confidence and an awareness of why it's important to show prosocial behaviours.

In what ways has this kit helped develop student confidence Through exploring what makes you special and providing strategies to 'power up' when needed. Through regularly checking in with our own feelings, having strategies to try when needing a boost and a way of asking for help when needed through the red cards.

“The resources in this kit are both engaging and insightful. The token 'check in' is a perfect way to quickly see how students are feeling but goes deeper than this by providing tips and strategies to help yourself and/or help others power up by paying it forward. This links in perfectly to the prosocial behaviours lessons within this programme which are super, super helpful in a modern classroom. The students enjoyed filling out their individual booklets, learning more about themselves along the way. Again, the content here provided a deeper understanding of how our behaviours power our self-confidence. This is done within the four areas; self-respect, self-belief, self-awareness and self-care and is cleverly linked using charging a battery as a metaphor. There are plenty of helpful tips here for students (and adults) to refer back to whenever we need to recharge.”

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them PB: The charging station was helpful to me personally with the suggestions from the green and orange envelopes. MC: I think its a good way to check in on how your doing. I like how the red zone has cards so you can write down how you are feeling. I really like the cards...you have to really think about what they are saying you could do. XM: I actually like it because you don't have to tell the teacher when you are in the red zone you can put it in the box. Sometimes its hard to tell the teacher your feelings.

What impact has this kit had on your classroom community? This kit has developed a positive class culture. Students are looking out for each other and we know that we need to be respectful of each others feelings. They take it very seriously.

“We were slow to set up the charging station but once it was up the students really took to it. We had a big talk about being respectful of the process and their tokens. We talked about confidentiality and being mindful of each other's feelings. Together we came up with a place for students to put their red feelings note if they needed it. We looked at the Dove videos around the same time that Life Education visited which reinforced what we learnt about reputation. As well as giving students ownership over their own feelings and how to deal with them this kit reinforced classroom culture.”

“We enjoyed parts of the programme. The token box was a good way to start our day and make sure to check in with each tamaiti. We used the booklets and found our circle of influences. This was a tester for our kids and they had to talk to friends/family members to find out more. We used check my charge and over a short period of time I felt the kids open a little and share more about themselves. I did find the programme hard to unpack and I do think this was because I had just steeped into a new class. Some of the self image clips I felt I couldn't share with this particular class, as there are some immature students.”

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? Self charging station- gives me a chance to see how students are feeling and them an opportunity to reflect on how they are feeling. It also gives them the ability to be responsible for uplifting themselves or others.

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them One student who was particularly struggling with confidence has been positively affected by this kit. With discovery of new things about himself over the term, he has realised that he’s not “only good at video games”. He has been much more in control of the way he reacts to the situations that present themselves in the classroom and a lot more considerate of his peers. Another student who would often talk negatively about herself when she looked in the mirror placed on our classroom is using hugely positive language these days. She has learned that we are all beautiful despite our differences and that our differences are what make us extra special.

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The everyday check ins were EPIC. They have inspired our class to continue a more consolidated daily version into a part of our daily meetings.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Increased self worth and self awareness. Knowledge that our words carry power and can either lift people up or drag them down.

In what ways has this kit helped develop student confidence Students feel more confident to use positive, caring and kind language to one another because of the activities included in the kit. Speaking kindly to oneself and others is contagious.

How has this kit helped develop student resilience? Children now recognise that most of our best attributes are learned. It has been really great for students to focus on the fact that not all learning is purest numbers, letters and assessment. For some students that struggle with academics this kit which educated them in practical life skills was more powerful than I can even realise. To see their faces so proud for knowing they were excelling at something was really wonderful.

What impact has this kit had on your classroom community? The students of room three are eager to learn new things and at ages 7-10 it was a perfect time to address self confidence and resilience. I have noticed that the students are now much more capable of dealing with little issues that arise in their everyday happenings. They are also getting better at understanding that they are in charge of their reactions to tricky situations.

What impact has this kit had on your classroom community? Our classroom has grown in confidence overall and they are becoming better collaborators for various reasons but mainly because they are realising more and more their worth, each day. We are all precious and in charge of ourselves! This kit has helped students (and me!) with dealing with things that are in our control and trying to leave, as best we can, the things that we cannot.

“I began teaching Room Three this term. Starting in with them half way through the year was exciting but also a bit unsettling for us all. The children of room three were struggling with kindness to one another from the get go of our learning journey together and I wondered if maybe that was because the children failed to understand the importance of being kind to themselves personally - after all you can’t pour from an empty cup so I was excited to see how using this kit may affect our class culture.”

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them - It's been helpful to be more aware of how my body shows me what i'm feeling, so I can help myself to calm down or be kinder to myself when I'm a bit down. - I liked using the grounding mat that we have in class because when I get really stressed out or something is hard I just go there and do my breathing exercises which makes me feel more relaxed so that I can go back to doing my work.

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The use of the student notebook was helpful in getting tamariki to reflect, and the mat was used regularly by ngā tamariki.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Learners in our classroom will be more aware of the messages that their bodies send them, and will have developed a greater resilience through knowing that they have people in their corner that will support them in their ventures.

In what ways has this kit helped develop student confidence Because our students are now more aware of the signals which show them that they are becoming worked up, or that their upset about something, they've also developed a greater understanding of their own individual needs in these moments. We have heard them using language like "Right now, I need..." which shows us that they are more confident in themselves and their ability to communicate their own needs.
