Power it Up - Paper Circuitry 19 Reviews

4.7 Rating 49 Reviews
The power it up kits were great. I have had the same class for 18 months and we tried last year with varying degrees of success. We found that it took a lot of patience to fold the copper tape etc for the circuits but they appreciated the outcomes. The children were quite lucky as this was there second time round in making the circuits. The girls in 2019 were a lot more patient and were able to make the lights power up. They ended up helping other children in different classes across the school. We did find that the buzzers from 2018 worked better than the 2019 ones (as I had kept the box from 2018). Overall a great learning experience for the students in Room 15. Thanks for the experience.

We have used these power kits across our school so we have seniors teaching juniors. This has been a valuable part of our Science lessons across our school and I have used them several times before. I love the local content and that students are able to follow along and work independently with the challenges.

I used the power kit with a year 6 class. They all enjoyed the projects and it links in well with our science curriculum. The use of parallel and series circuits was great as we were able to talk about the benefits of each type of circuit and through the use of these circuits the students were able to understand them better. The best part was watching the students design their own circuit using what they had learnt previously at the end of the book.

The power it up kit was quite good the students enjoyed trying to do the circuits. Most needed help with the copper tape and a lot of the circuits didn't work which was disappointing for all the effort . It was quite fiddly and I struggled to get through all students as year 3 this was not an independent task for most. However the kit had everything we needed and the students enjoyed colouring the pictures and learning about electrical circuits.

Thank you for this great opportunity! I actually used this kit with a group of extension year 2 students and they had huge success! We were able to make some awesome Christmas cards for the children to take home and display. Thanks!

This circuitry kit has been amazing yet again. This time around I included some discussions about where our power comes from-and how it all works. Then when it came to their booklets the students were so excited. I had two students who had done it before but even they were engaged and excited to do a better job this time! Such a great hands-on learning experience. We couldn't get the buzzers to work- however it became a real challenge for those determined students! It taught them to problem solve and even if the outcome didn't work, they still tried their best. Thanks for a great teaching resource.

This is my second year working with this kit.As I am in MLE with 69 children there is a wide range of ability within this group. The children loved the kit they work at their own speed, ask peers for help.discuss, experiment and show a huge understanding of circuits.(not there at the beginning for the majority of children)Only one hiccup this year the faulty buzzers!!!Many thanks.

What a wonderful resource. My class of year 4/5 students have been learning about energy and this toolkit was the ultimate test. The children were so motivated to get the light bulbs to chine and persevered for hours. They shared their experience at home and parents commented on how much their child had learnt and how much they enjoyed the experience. The copper tape was a little tricky at first and we had many failed attempts but eventually they got it and the excitement was 'electric'. Thank you for providing us with the opportunity to teach circuits in such an exciting way!
