Tell us about an unexpected outcome from having used this kit. Our kids organised and planned a Sugar Rush competition based on the Netflix program, wrote recipes, budgeted for them, problem solved how to use one oven between 44 kids and persuaded the principal to let us go on a shopping trip to the local supermarket
This has been awesome! We were lucky enough to score 2 kits for our MLE class of 44, and as a Play Based learning class, we set it up and let the kids go for it. They first played all the usual Snap, Go Fish, letter recognition type games, and then went further, using the kit as a springboard for writing shopping lists, researching different food to make their own food ABC and building their own shop. It's tied into our money unit SO well, and we will definitely be keeping this as a station for next year too!

Tell us about an unexpected outcome from having used this kit. More letter recognition for my high learning need students. Some of my students are very new to the country and school. Through the tiles we were able to connect with them more - we found more common interests also. We were able to make up games around re
My class has an amazing time using the tiles during their literacy and free time. Students with higher needs found these really easy to make connections between literacy and their likes and dislikes (movie wise). We had great discussions around characteristics of characters (our focus is on description this term), these led to high quality writing sessions.

Kids enjoyed this resource as they were already collecting the tiles from Countdown and the games were easy to teach.

Tell us about an unexpected outcome from having used this kit. Co-operation skills were used every day!! Confidence in our tamariki was an added bonus!!
The countdown tiles were awesome for oral language and for spelling games. The tiles required co-operation and sharing skills among the children. Their alphabet knowledge increased and their ability to match the tile to the picture. The tamariki were able to spell many interesting words they could use these new words in their writing.Thank you it was a great School kit!! My class loved it and will use it next year as well.

I thought this kit was great, but the activities seemed too easy for year 2's. Something with blends would be cool. They loved opening the tiles and seeing what we had and didn't have, both letters and characters.
