“What a fabulous kit. My Year 2 class have loved having these as part of our literacy rotation. Some have even been motivated to use their own tiles at home for spelling. There are so many different ways we have used the tiles, they are challenging each other to make as many different words as they can. Love this resource.”

Co-operation skills were used every day!! Confidence in our tamariki was an added bonus!!
“The countdown tiles were awesome for oral language and for spelling games. The tiles required co-operation and sharing skills among the children. Their alphabet knowledge increased and their ability to match the tile to the picture. The tamariki were able to spell many interesting words they could use these new words in their writing.Thank you it was a great School kit!! My class loved it and will use it next year as well.”
“I thought this kit was great, but the activities seemed too easy for year 2's. Something with blends would be cool.
They loved opening the tiles and seeing what we had and didn't have, both letters and characters.”
“A great kit thanks, the excitement over the tiles was immense, great that they could also create their own games. We now use the lot as an independent 'can do' activity. Thank you!”

Students are wanting to practice their words and it's great listening to the discussions that are going on while they are sharing the resource.
“Hi, my class really love them. The were so excited when they came - especially because of the pictures. They use them the way the instructions said to, but they also use them for making their high frequency words, spelling words, names etc. The also try and make entire sentences. We have lots of extra letters like , q, g z and a little short on some of the more commonly used letters . But that is ok, we have learnt to be very creative and have changed some of the letters, with marker pens, or stuck on some tiles from an old scrabble set.”

Watching how the students came up with their own ways to use and play and invent games.
“Great concept and the students love the fishing rod. They have been playing lots of games that they have invented for themselves. As a new entrant teacher it was not as useful as expected as it was all in capitals and I focus on lower case letters first.”
